+1 to @windows Q, also whats it going to be used for, looks like a saw + lathe drive? and if so what materials do you want to work with??

personally when looking at projects like this I look at what i have allready, and a old 12v+ battery drill with spent batteries laying at the back of the shed seems like an ideal donor for a motor, Then powering it depends on the power requirements of the donor dril..

where did you find it? could the builder shed any light ? given its purpose the intructables site may offer details if search for similar builds..

Hopefully running mains 240v. A friend has offered a remote rc aircraft starter which is 12v so a transformer will be needed if I go that way. I have various rotary tools I could use like a rotozip that's got a cracking motor, hardly used. But looking for something that's meant to be their. As above.
It's mainly a hobby project, so if it ever does get used it will be real lightweight stuff. I'm thinking 3-4" saw blade max and mini drill/dremel chuck for various polishing/ sanding/ grinding discs.
Framework looks simple steel frame and half inch perspex, and a few stainless nuts and bolts.
The main shaft and bearing housings still need a bit of investigating.

That looks like a washing machine motor, but i could be wrong.

About half the size I reckon. Only 2 terminals on the back. And if the chuck is only a 10mm capacity, it's got to be smaller than a drill but bigger than a dremel.

might be worth checking out the diamond disk attatchment and if its modable to fit a saw blade? if not may give you an idea on the sort of ac motor to look for 450w?

Good find on that one. I do have a wickes tile cutter that I've just fitted a 180mm 60 tooth blade to for fine craft work. Never thought of stripping it to look at the motor.
The closest I've come to is this... But it's american 115v.

ive read someone made one in USA with a 1/15hp motor, but that motor was no longer available. How does 1/15hp motor compare to a 450w motor? Can they be compared that way for power or torque? I'm outa my depth with electrics.

ive got an old 18v? budget brand drill driver with a battery that wont hold a charge , with the battery details and google a suitable dc brick psu could be sourced, an old tower pc psu would probably do it ?? you can have the drill for postage cost as im not close enough to just drop it off..
