Ok so me not being the the best at understanding anything worded technical but good at practical things i'm looking at building my own coils. Which i'm sure i can do ok,i have read plenty of info and seen plenty of vids but for the life of me i can not work out what size wire and how many wraps i will need i would like to make 1.2 ohm coils for the kanger subtank. As this is what i normally buy/use and happy with them so would like to stick to that. Best i can find is 12 wraps of 25.5 awg kanthal around a 2.5 mm bar should give me 1.3 ohm does this sound right ??? also will 12 wraps fit in the rba deck ???? thanks Russ

@broadblaster For ease of use and for the ohms you want go for 28 gauge, anything higher and you may find it a bit harder too keep the coil in place and lower you may find ramp up a bit slow and need to up the watts a little..

For a 1.2 ohm coil I would use 28awg or in English .32mm kanthal. 6 wraps around a 2.5mm bit

It would all depend the diameter of bit your wrapping wire around but say 7 for a 2mm bit or as above 6 for a 2.5mm bit..

i had a look at that mate and i just can not for the life of me make any sense of it, yes its me being thick i know I usually use a web page called coil toy. Google it you should find it easy enough. Much more user friendly than steam engine. Not as many options mind but certainly easier and gives you a nice picture of how your finished coil should look

For a 1.2 ohm coil I would use 28awg or in English .32mm kanthal. 6 wraps around a 2.5mm bit I do exactly that but get between 1.3 and 1.5 ohm but then I wrap around a Johnson's cotton bud and have fat stubby fingers

The cotton bud may be thicker than 2.5mm. I use a jewellery making mandrel
