as per title, I ordered one and got it today, it came with both types of coils (bvc and bdc) in the box and I don't know which sort to use, I am using liquid e-juices in the 12 & 18mg and I have read some disturbing things about spitting and crackling with the mini so before i fill it up i want o know that i'm using the right coils to minimise that and still get a good vape without random blobs of hot juice rocketing into my gob

I used to use the 1.6 or 1.8 bvc @ 14w when I had one but hey use what suits you best just try them both and go from there.

A 1.6Ώ & a 1.8Ώ.
I don't use the coil heads as BVCs so I can't advise from my own experience. I recoil them with a rewickable horizontal coil.
However I have introduced several people to the iStick 30W/Nautilus Mini combination. Those that choose not to rewick I advise to prime the coil thoroughly and start at 9W. Gradually turn the watts up until you find the 'sweet spot'. None have reported a problem with spitting.
One guy can't be bothered to start low and gets the occasional gob glob but I think he has a cast iron mouth.
I've always found crackling to be good both in vaping & pork.

came with both types of coils, thats a first. BVC are the newer of the two and came with my tank when i first gave up and that was 9 months ago so ive never seen a BDC. i use bvc 1.6 and 1.8 upto a max of 14watts and the longest theve lasted me was a day short of 1 month.

BVC = great!
BDC = not very good, although not bad at low power (really low power 5-8 watts).
I like either the 1.6 or 1.8 at minimum 12 watts. The latest type can get up to 15 watts.

bvc are far better in my opinion. as previously mentioned 14 watts should be more than enough, i use them between 10/13 watts depending on juice. start low with a new coil, about 9watts and increase steadily till you find what suits you. when you change coil fill tank and let it stand for 10 mins first so the wick has time to saturate.
enjoy.

Is there a video to show how to build the bvc heads horizontal? I really like the tank but hate not being able to rebuild the vertical coils many thanks for any help

After searching I found Igual's guide just done 2 heads (hubby did the drilling for me) and so far so good flavour is amazing and no more piddling about trying to make decent vertical coils (way too hard for idiots like me)

After searching I found Igual's guide just done 2 heads (hubby did the drilling for me) and so far so good flavour is amazing and no more piddling about trying to make decent vertical coils (way too hard for idiots like me) I do the heads differently to Igual because I like to have consistent wicking by using a cotton tape. No guessing how much cotton to use. I do them like this:-
Old & New heads:-
1. Take out bottom pin & grommet. Use a small screwdriver to push the coil & wick out through the top.
2. Hold head in a vice. Find a drill that will fit inside the inner sleeve at the bottom of the head but not fit through the bottom of the head. The drill I use just had 5 on it so may be 5mm. Tap drill with mallet/hammer pushing the inner sleeve out. There will be a piece of cotton coming out with it which can be thrown away.
3. Replace the inner sleeve ensuring that 2 opposing juice holes are clear and the other 2 covered by the sleeve. I use a clamp to squeeze the sleeve back in. Make sure it's right in.
4. New Heads:- Check that an 18 gauge blunt needle will fit through the 2 clear opposing holes. Old heads:- Drill out the 2 clear holes to 2mm.
5. Make a coil. I use the Kuro Coiler, 28 AWG (.32mm) wire, to make a 2mm dia coil. 8 wraps comes out at about 1.6ohms.
6. Feed the coil up through the bottom of the head and when it's lined up with the clear holes insert the needle to keep the coil in place. Fit grommet & pin. Trim legs. Check ohms and heat to sort out any hot spots.

Thank you Smifee I did steps 1-3 but drilled the holes out to 3mm (well hubby did) only did 2 heads so will leave the rest of them at the 2mm holes my coilers are on route from China so just made a micro coil 6 wraps round a 2.5mm drill bit came out 1.4 ohm I'll wait to do the other heads when the coilers arrive and will follow your guide Thanks for your reply I hate having to get anyone to help and now I don't have to P.s these are working really well I always hated the stock heads now my mini nauti will be used again . Edit to ask I may be way behind but what is cotton tape? I'm using Japanese cotton.

violetblade You aren't way behind. I am. Cotton tape was the wonder wick before Japanese Cotton last year. I was fed up with keep chasing the latest fad and found an easy, cheap & reliable way of vaping. By using 'Rico Summer Fashion Cotton Yarn' I didn't have to guess how much cotton to use. It's just cut, thread & trim. Perfect result every time in a 2mm coil. BUT Rico have discontinued the yarn If you can find some to buy you'll have done very well. A couple of months ago I spent hours online and may have bought the last 700 metres in the UK. My daughter in law works for a fabric company and may have found an alternative from Germany but I haven't received a sample yet. If you want to try it send me a PM and I'll send you some.
