WISMEC REULEAUX DNA200 strip down.

Wasn`t sure where to put this but it may come in handy if anyone with this mod wants to upgrade some of the wiring.

Undo the 6 screws (very small Philips). Remove the white spongy plug to the left of the negative symbol. There is a screw under it which must be removed.

Remove the torq screw in the bottom of the mod (screws into the plastic battery holder)

Remove the torq screw from the top of the mod, again it screws into the battery holder.

The strap is what the screw under the white spongy plug mentioned earlier goes through and then tightens through the board and into the chassis. This is the negative feed from the batteries in series and onto the board.

The 510 wiring from the board looks fine. The hole to the left of the negative wire is where the screw mentioned in the previous pic goes into and tightens.

When you have removed the 6 screws as in the top picture, the display cover and button holder will fall off, be aware 

The body of the mod is all metal, the only plastic being the battery holder. 

This red battery positive feed wire is questionable. I`m really not sure it is thick enough. It seems sturdy enough but possibly on the limit. For me, it wont be an issue. I doubt I will ever get above 30W.

It`s not difficult to take apart if you need to.

There are another two thinner wires (red and black) which are for charging the batteries .

Cheers robby I was sure they were a common ground or chassis ground, but you are the first with the pics. The positive wire would be min spec of PVC 18 AWG 1.29 mm diam conductor or Silicone 20 AWG 1.02 mm diam conductor. We were talking about it here over the last couple of days, and I am going to borrow you pic of the ground tab to post on the Evolv therd where it got into even more detail.

It`s hard to tell, the insulation seems pretty thin and the wire seems pretty sturdy so it might be okay, but certainly thinner than it should have been in my opinion. A nicely made mod apart from that issue.


SHOULD ALSO HAVE MENTIONED THAT THE DISPLAY IS EXPOSED AND GREAT CARE NEEDED AS THEY CAN BREAK VERY EASILY

Some concern expressed about that picture on the Evolve forum. I dont know how I never spotted it Having said that I think it is probably deliberate to lower the red wire at that corner ? The way it is melted doesn`t look as if it could have been caused by the red wire. The spread of molten plastic is just too great. Could also have been a soldering iron slip. Everything is fine on Escribe. Battery life is looking excellent compared to the lipo setup. I`m not taking it to bits again unless I have to

Can't see the wire melting the plastic without melting it's own insulation as I read it is not silicone insulated and why at only at one point unless it was shorting on the body, I suppose it could have then been repaired during QC or it could be intentional.

That does not look like its caused by a soldering iron slip, its to uniform in the way its melted. Im afraid by the way the wire has melted into the corner and the fact that the insulation in that spot is wrinkled, it looks to me like an overheating tight wire has cut its was into the corner. Just my opinion based on what i see.

It would be good to know for sure just to put peeps minds at rest. Im just a bit suspicious as to why you would not route that wire to the left where there's room for it not to get pinched rather than melt a channel in the the holder.

Was it stuck to the plastic robby, I would expect it to be if both the wire and the plastic got hot at the same time.

Wire does look like it has some damage on it in that area.

I think that the 510 sits in the middle there and they are routing the wire away from that, if I am correct in thinking this is at the top of the mod and the opposite end from the power connection to the board.

It is stuck, but in the light of day looks almost like glue. Now I have it in bits, I may do a full wiring diagram of the wires in question.

Looks a lot better with better lighting. There is no way that wire has got hot enough to cause that melting. It`s in perfect condition, but the plastic has been melted. I suspect the plastic was melted with a soldering iron and then the wire was pushed into the hot plastic. It would explain why the plastic has not come down over the wire. VapingBad is right in that it is pretty close to the 510 which would explain why they did it. Not ideal but a practical solution to keep the cable from moving at that point.

The wire was stuck via the bottom surface of the wire. Absolutely no sign of melting on the cable itself. I`ll put it back in with a drop of araldite.
