Noticed this recall, and remember some folk talking using them on this site. Link

They say in the article "You will be given a £20 voucher you can redeem against other EE accessories online if you are an eligible EE customer for the inconvenience of having to return the item that was originally given away free by the company." Thats pretty decent of them, you can buy a 2600mah powerbank for £5 or less elsewhere and still be in profit lol

I remember talking about them but I never got my hands on one. Cheers for the heads up though.

I bet it's 95% user ignorance at fault.

I bet it's 95% user ignorance at fault. Highly likely, just thought it was the right thing to do by bringing to everyone's attention. Therefore catching the folk that don't have a clue.

We took ours back. Got a £20 voucher each to spend on EE's website plus they will be sending us out new power bars when they get all the issues sorted. Not bad in all honesty.

pretty sure the problem is they used generic (fake) batteries to make them to save costs ..... someone had one of those things go bang whilst it was charging and the majority of them had fake CE markings .....
still as a virtual freebie with a £20 voucher towards some other accessory its not been a bad deal for most /

my last resort power bank for the last decade has always been a solar unit, ok so its been replaced a few times but they are far more versatile, the latest ones cost me £15 each two years ago and have been used frequently by the teens when doing DofE and other expeditions, with the billy bonus they can charge themselves even when in use when going any further than across town I take one and have needed it several times because I frequently forget to switch off the various parts of my phone that suck battery power ..... even rescued a few tourists from the dreaded battery low message during the summer at longleat when their ijunk died and the car charger didn't work........ but like all good deeds I paid for that by being forced to spend a week In bed afterwards my wife also used to laugh at me for always insisting on being prepared with multiple options for emergency kit I never used until one day it was needed and then she was really glad I was an oddball, some of it clearly rubbed off on her over the years cos she doesn't leave home with out a few special emergency options (foil blanket vevo charger cash pill & and a handful of medical stuff) which she frequently finds herself dispensing to those in need.... when her payback comes its going to be painful as well /
