4 Slice Toaster Help

Not our usual topic of conversation on here but Google has proved to be pretty useless.

So in for a penny in for a pound, may as well try here, never know i might strike gold.

We're after a new 4 slice toaster, one that can take large slices of bread (Warburtons type 15cm tall).

Argos have a Breville one that is specifically designed for Warburtons bread but it has some pretty poor reviews.

Don't really want to turn the bread on its side and do two slices at a time, so really looking for a four slice toaster that takes large size bread - not worried about thickness - more height.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Good luck after 3 toasters I've given up the search and now just turn my bread half way through not very even browning and a pain in the rear but still better than messing about with the grill.

We didn't realise we was embarking on such a task for something so simple.

According to the search, there appears to be a gap in the market for such a sensible toaster.

Yep, till they change the size of the bread again, i.e. smaller then it's not efficient, go back to square 1 and start again, some of yo may see a pattern emerging lol

You're right Bluefish

Seem to remember a similar battle a few years ago with a decent sandwich toaster.

They don't make them the way they used to.

The old Breville sandwich toasters were great, now there's just a collection of poor shallow imitations, where you're lucky if you can toast a slice of ham in.

Perhaps tomorrow may bring a few suggestions, not holding my breath though, there seems to be a real gap in the market.

The world seems to have gone tiny, micro and small.

Been trying to buy a new suit in a regular size, nearly impossible, but if i wanted it in slim, super slim or skinny i'd be fine

If the larger sizes are sold out doesn't that tell the retailers something?

ive got an older kenwood 4 slicer and it fits warbies ,might be worth popping down and having a look

Russell Hobbs model 19160.

After many years of not having a toaster which could do the job of doing the job it was designed for I made a cardboard cutout of a slice of proper bread (not this square stuff) and sent the misses out on a mission to find one which actually was able to fit the whole slice in properly.

The one above is the one we have. One downside, there doesn't appear to be a removable crumb tray as I got showered looking for the model number underneath the unit (there may be but I didn't notice it)

How much do you want to spend, X&Y, as Cuisinart do an extra large, extra deep toaster. Looks quite spiffy too!

this post is close to my heart.. twice a week im in the corner shop pulling most the bread off the shelf looking for a loaf thats not risen too well, and has not collapsed or has been crushed by stacking weight that i can slot in the toaster sideways for a full coverage toasting. As im neat and will carefully restack the bread i dont get any hassle but the search often fails which leaves me with a taller loaf and a pretoasting job of slicing the top cm off each slice prior to its morning drop in the toaster.

sorry i cant offer any help as ours is a basic 2 slice argos £10 toaster, have you considered simply buying 2 x 2 slice toasters for a tenner each???

Sainsbury's have a 4 slot toaster on offer in their stores I saw it last week, dunno if it will take the larger slices but as it's in store you could go along and have a look at it.

I've literally just been to Aldi & seen that one so thought of you & got it out the box. It won't do big Warburtons, big box, big outer unit, small slots :-(
