Depending on what prescription they made your interocular lens you might find you need to cover the lens on your glasses with something for the newly fixed eye, in my case my eyesight was very VERY bad before the surgery but was 20/20 for distance after surgery, problem was my other eye was then so far different in prescription to the now good eye that I had double vision, and for 2 years I had to wear a contact lens for the unfixed eye as well as varifocal glasses or glasses with one side (the good side) pebbledashed when I wasn't wearing the contact lens - once I had the other eye done they are both 20/20 for distance but I have no close up or intermediate vision so I wear varifocals to read, use the pc or make and thread coils and no glasses for driving, going to the cinema, sightseeing etc. They normally would have done the other eye quite close together timewise because of the huge difference but the eye I had the surgery on has a retinal tear so I had been on increased risk of it going wrong and they wanted to make sure that was all settled before doing the other eye.

If your getting both eyes done, the second eye is the best. When you have the patch removed, you have perfect vision in full 3d 3d vision is a fantastic gift to be given back Just make sure you have plenty of eyewash in the fridge after the ops If you get gritty eye, wash it, don't rub it

Good News indeed.. The patch is off and i can use the scraped eye its weeping constantly so no dry eye problems just a damp collar, lots of tea to keep me hydrated it gets very tiered very quickly and isn't keen on bright lights so I am functioning with it closed about half the time but the after effects are minor irritations, nothing to worry about and after each lil rest and i open the eye its clear, and only a hint of double vision which could be down to the constant tear-ing, . It wasnt a painful procedure but it was a fairly uncomfortable one but the hospital staff were great as usual.. So when it comes to getting the left eye done i can approach it without any doubt, just not right away hehe.. Thanks again for all the positive messages. I have had a good read through this morning, and as i can now sit the specks on the lappy page is back to a normal size. PHEW!!

Hi,phatfil, Glad you are ok --not that I thought you wouldn,t be. My wife had both hers done a couple of yrs ago now--think there was 6 months to a year between them. Now she has better eyes than me,she did have to get new glasses with differing lenses in the new pair initially and again when both where done. What,s not been mentioned on your post is that you may get "floaters" crossing the lens in your new eye !. My wife and I were concerned about this at first and she did notice it for a good while.........not now, she hardly ever mentions it, so either they have disappeared now or she just doesn,t notice --But not to worry---we phoned the eye hospital----It can be a normal consequence of the op. Now for the other one -eh !! I know you wont regret it mate.

phatfil if you get any questions, the type you want answered but don't want to bother your doctor with, because you think they are silly or mundane, just ask Going by the amount of us with bionic vision on here, you should get plenty of good help You might even give others the courage to have the op done. And I will admit a secret to my own bravery on my first op. The surgeon decided it was best to let a nurse hold my hand through the op

Cheers lee but tbh im having no trouble at all as long as i keep out of strong bright lighting or sunlight, i Really really want to give the damn thing a mighty fine rubbing but have resisted so far though i have found myself with my finger poised a few times.. the worst after effect is the residual gum from the tape used to hold the overnight guard in place its a real pita to clean off my face while keeping sap well clear of the eye the procedure itself isnt fun, but all I was aware of through the eye worked on is that there was a bright light above me, no vision of the tools used or any sight of the surgeon at work. just a light that was visible enough so you could point your eye at it. and the slight feeling of pressure, I was quaking in my boots at the prospect, an optician once ended up kneeling on my chest in an attempt to stick a contact lens in my eye (he failed).. but the procedure is no where near as bad as having a contact lens fitted or atemting to have a contact lens fitted if like me you cant bear the prospect of being aware of anything touch your eyeball

glad all went well phatfil my cataract operation was easy enough to do but a 13yrs old abit of a shock not as much of a shock as the treatment that went with it operation to remove steel from back of my eye operations after operation now i have a lens in the back of my eyeball and i still cant see through the bleeding thing im super safe useing grinders etc now, a few times iv had bits go in my remaining eye and been blind for a period you only have 1 pair of eyes the importance of looking after them is only brought to mind when you cant see good luck with your other eye im sure it will go smoothly
