Hello all,
I read somewhere that when Sub-Ohm vaping you should use high VG juice, 70 VG and higher, is this true and why?
I'm a DIY-er and mix with 3mg of nicotine, but don't see the reasoning behind high VG. Normally I mix at 70 PG, not bothered about clouds just flavour.
TIA.

Your choice, I use subtanks at about 0.7ohm 60%vg, that's because I like that ratio crump

Because when you're sub-ohming higher PG juice tends to hurt your throat. (Too much throat hit.) I stick to 70VG+ personally.

Te higher power you go, the less PG you need to produce throat hit, but it's all subjective. I use 75Vg at 35W on tanks and 80VG at 100W on drippers so it's horses for courses really. Try your existing juice with your new setup and adjust as you feel you need to. The more important thing would be to cut your nic content as you increase power. 3mg may be fine at 30W but could be overpowering at 60W.
I now mix at 1.5mg for home use and a 2.5mg mix ofr work as I vape at lower powers there and less often.

I have changed the percentages recently, mainly due to the sheer amount of window cleaning needing done at home due to higher VG ratio's. I used to make all mixes at 70vg/30pg but now 60/40pg.

And does that ratio keep the Windows clean, cause I'm having the same problem with 80vg. Having to clean the lounge windows every couple of days. It seems to have got worse during the cold damp weather this winter, fortunately I've got one of the Karcher window vacs so it only takes a couple of minutes. Roll on summer

With the OH and myself both vaping, I clean the windows throughout the house once a week. We also have a Karcher glass vacuum, but they still end up with a thin film of VG on them, so out comes the rubber gloves and damp newspaper on a Saturday morning!

As said before all subjective to your taste and needs. I use 70vg and find it a happy medium

I agree with chykensa , The higher the %VG, the more condensate you get on your windows! I also think it produces more phlegm. Jim PS. I like the tip re wet news paper.

Thanks for the replies, it's appreciated. The throat hit's never been a problem, although I might try to up the VG on a couple of samples just out of curiosity. Karcher & Newspaper on standby!

Damp newspaper method:-
Bowl of hot water with a dash of white vinegar. Rubber gloves, unless you want print on your fingers for the next 48 hours. Old newpaper.
Take one sheet of newspaper, scrunch into a loose ball, quickly dip in the water and rub all over the glass area, avoiding any light coloured emulsion paint which will stain. Use a fresh sheet of newspaper to wipe off the excess water and polish to a brilliant, streak-free finish. Use this slightly damp sheet, dipped in the water, to start the process on the next pane of glass. Finish off, and sit down with your favourite hot beverage, vape and sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare.

The paper is too wet, and not on the glass long enough I guess. Don't know what the chemistry behind it is, but I use this method on all glass, including my van, and it works a treat, with no smears or residue. No other proprietary cleaner, even Windolene, comes close.
