I'd check out Ebay or Gumtree taz96 as I believe these haven't been manufactured since the 50s/60s. My Gran had one in her kitchen in cream and red. They died out when fitted kitchens came along.

that's a dining room dresser unit with drop down booze cupboard painted in white ?
at least it looks just like the g-plan teak effect thing my parents had when I was growing up (except its been painted)
I don't know about Lothian area but look on eBay for second hand stuff, chances are pretty good there will be a furniture type place that will be selling them with a delivery price although if you really want white you might need to fork out for a few tins of gloss

If you're on facebook? It might be worth looking for the local furniture/shabby chic/upcycling/etc type of groups. Barring that a reccy round a few 2nd hand/charity/antique shops if you've any local?....

Thanks guys..I have "ebayed" and googled" '. All that are available are hundreds of miles away and collect only. Some of the prices...wow. We had several of them when I was growing up..who knew that one day they'd be "vintage" and worth a few bob....lol
I'm only desperate to get one as it's about the only thing that will fit in my minuscule kitchen with sufficient storage.

I remember when every kitchen had one along with a formica topped table It was sat at one of those eating cereal at my grans in Swansea i recieved old school wooden spoon rapps on my elbows whenever i rested them on the fold out table.. that bad habit was beaten out of me in a single summer.. Now if only my gran had survived til when i started smoking and had given me the same aversion therapy

wildpolecat I would seriously be interested if I could afford it. The only thing is I would have to be able to fit it in a car ? Would not be the first time I've driven to south wales.

Would not be the first time I've driven to south wales. ahh you would be asking for a flat pack version then another idea has poped inside my tiny mind since my last post, have you been to the local tips and social housing furniture centres ? many such places will likely have such units (although they might need spot of tlc) for not very much cash ..... I know round here they regularly have the 70's chic g-plan teak stuff and most of it isn't in bad nick either, just goes to show even the cheap argos furniture was made to last more than a month 40 years ago ....nowadays your lucky If some of that stuff survives assembly never mind a few years of use ......

phatfil Grans were the best. Where abouts in Swansea did she live ? I lived there for a wee while. Right at the top of the hill edgware rd, uplands. the walks down to the city/beach were bad enough but the walk back up that hill tires me out just thinking about it..
