Yes, the thing to look for is the minimum resistance a mod will fire, and just ensure you use coils with a higher resistance.. in this case the eleaf istick should fire 0.4ohms and above, so with a 0.5 ohm coil in the isub your fine you may also want to check out the subtank mini clones on fastech, with only a single air in vent they open a wide open sub ohm deep lung vape, but can also be closed off for a tighter mouth to lung vape too.. nice n cheap on the FT site shame about the delivery delay tho

That might be the way to go to start out with, as my OH won't fuss to much over costs, any clone subtanks that you could suggest ?
I just had a thought I have a Kanger Mega Tank, could that work. I will still be looking at other things.

The Isub tanks are probably the best starter sub ohm tanks at the moment they all use the same coils and are normally easy to get They now have an rba available as a separate kit if you want to try rebuilding but the stock heads are easy to rebuild as well
as for a mod, sub ohm needs a lot of power so the more watts the better (and milli amps as that's how long it will last between charges ) I haven't owned a mod with a built-in battery so can't recommend one but It must have 50 watts or more
hope that kinda helps

May also be worth considering the Smok micro one kit, most places are selling it around the £50 mark, and no batteries to buy

I got the isub MVP 3 pro kit last week. And it's fantastic!
I'd recommend that or the coolfire 4 plus with the isub.
The thing I like about the isub is it doesn't need a shed load of watts. The 0.5 ohm coil is quite happy at 25w. For a sub ohm tank it doesn't eat juice for fun (although I do find the subtank mini more conservative). And it's has air flow for days.
Plus, if you fancy rebuilding there's an rba base. If you don't the coils are £6 for 5 on Amazon.
The MVP 3 pro is Bloody fantastic too. Battery lasts me a week running the isub at 25watts.
And it cost me £40. What's not to love?!

Thanks folks I have went with a Joyetech Cuboid and the ISub G, even though I have seen the thread on it leaking I hope that is not the case, I also bounced some ideas of my mate so between all of your advice and recommendations and his, I felt this was a reasonable starting point to dipping my toe into sub-ohm vaping, I can always get a better tank for building if I decide it's for me and the mod should still be useful. Now I just have to tell the Mrs I bought it all.

Now I just have to tell the Mrs I bought it all. just explain you have to buy it now whilst its cheap and available because in a couple of weeks the price will skyrocket as TPD hits and makes it illegal ...... in my experience honesty is the best policy, which was why when I went sales shopping in January I managed to snag a couple of grands worth of kit for a couple of hundred quid and get away with my balls still attached

That could work, I did as far as I 'am concerned do well, I got the Cuboid for £26.+ and the ISub G for £12+, of course I then had to get batteries and got them from Torchy for £11+ then picked up a Nitecore 4 for £12+. To lazy to look up all the exact figures lol. I also added to things by getting 250ml of nic and some strawberry ripe + citrus punch concentrate both 90ml which added around £37 between vat and delivery charges. So roughly £100 allowing for the pence's.
