Vapers in Power - Election Campaign Crowdfund

Elections are shortly to be upon us again with the Welsh Government going to the polls on the 5th of May.

Vapers in Power intends to be there, bringing vaping into the political spotlight.


To do that we need your help.

We have two candidates willing to stand in the Cardiff area where the Health Minister Mark Drakeford is based. We want to make sure that every time he stands at a hustings there is a vaper standing next to him, and every time he is mentioned in the papers there is a vaping candidate available to stand against his ridiculous attitude of the precautionary principle being used without considering the collateral damage.

Please donate if you can, share if you can't and generally help make sure vapers are heard at the ballot box in Wales this May.

An update on the crowdfund:


Thank you all for such an incredible response - the deposits and most of the printing costs have been raised in the time allotted. We spent the weekend at VapeJam though ...




and wanted to allow a bit more time to see if that would have any effect (if we don’t reach the target, Indiegogo raise their fees).


Unfortunately, for those of you who have claimed perks, that means we can’t send them out for another 5 days, sorry.



We’re going to have a raffle for the last few days:   we are holding a free prize draw for all those people that make donations over £5 to the Crowdfund.

Everyone that donates at least £5 between now and Saturday 9th of April 2016 at 12.00am (MIDNIGHT) using our Crowdfund

will be entered into the free prize draw.



The winners will be chosen by a randomiser. The winners will be announced within 24hrs of the closure of our Crowdfund via email.

The results are in.   Here's a statement we in Vapers in Power put out on our blogsite today:

Vapers in Power candidates Lee Woolls (Cardiff West) and Bernice Evans (Central South Wales) received 96 and 470 votes respectively. We applaud both of them for standing up for the Freedom to Choose a much less harmful alternative to smoking.

Lee: “It was a vote by vapers against an abhorrent policy-maker and a vote for Vapers in Power. Thanks to all that worked so hard and to those that voted against Drakeford"

Bernice: “The increase in voters is evidence of the fact that Welsh people are unhappy with the way Wales is controlled. Mark Drakeford no longer has the comfort of a large majority after this result.”

Mark Drakeford’s much reduced majority is a vindication of the#‎VoteVaperNotLabour campaign and sends a strong message that those who make policy without regard to credible evidence will be held to account. We congratulate Neil McEvoy, a supporter of e-cigs, for fighting such an effective campaign against the Welsh Health Minister.

We would also like to congratulate Kirsty Williams of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and Darren Millar of the Welsh Conservatives for getting re-elected and thank them for their continued support for vaping We are very confident that the new Assembly will take a sensible approach to vaping and we propose the setting up of a cross party group to hammer out sensible and science based policies.
