Thank you guys, that is all very helpful and will try 2.5 and 3 ID horizontal builds first My 26awg wire is coming with the RDTA in the next few days so will give that a whirl. Just checked 24awg wire with 2.5mm ID, 7 wraps comes in at 0.3 ohm in dual coil which seems ok as well, but would that ramp up very slowly compared to the 26awg options above? Hopefully I will find a use for the 28awg wire as I just got 75 meters of the stuff today Not a noticeable difference in ramp up between 26 and 24 gauge, will probably want to pump a few extra watts through it though.

Good stuff VB, I have numbers all over the place now but am pretty good with my maths most of the time. I have some SS wire coming in 24 and 26 AWG as well so hopefully a good starting point for me I was going to buy a Crius OBS but after looking at how finicky the wicking is with that, I thought the RDTA looked much easier to wick and has good reviews. Also saw the Gemini RTA review posted and like the look of that too.

Lovely, thank you matey I will let you guys know how I go with my first try and take a pic of my newbie building skills when done with my flucked capasitor

Got my parts today so will be trying first few coils today My iSub S tank also turned up from FT at long last lol Primed and Fitted coil, filled tank, left standing upright while checking my other bits, and looked ten minutes later and the tank had dumped almost all the juice out the bottom air holes So all cleaned and tightened everything up and refilled and so far juice seems to be staying put. Will see when I start using it Now I can get back to making those coils again

Hey guys, Here was my first attempt, yes not very pretty but it was firing. This was on the Velocity mini clone. Tried 26 AWG kanthal, 7 wraps with 30mm ID. Think it was more like 6 1/2 wraps as it came out at 0.4 Ohms and should have been 0.5 but that's fine... Seemed to vape ok but was getting dry hits quickly and man I have not had that joy of ash cloud in a long time So had a look and cotton was burnt and noticed cotton was quite thin in the coils too, so took it out and put some new cotton in. Main thing I learned today was the grain of the cotton, I put the cotton through the coils on first attempt and it was thinning and breaking away quite easy, so cut a strip running with the grain and this is stronger and can be pulled through the coil more easily. I am sure everyone knows this though but I am a fairly fast learner lol. New wick in and wicking perfectly now. Holy cow, loads of vapor and huge flavor from this thing at 50-60W. I am impressed! Next up I did the same coils as above only this time added and extra wrap so 7 1/2 - 8 wraps in the hope I would get to 0.5 Ohm, well it came out ar 0.45 this time so still fine for me for now... Think I made it a little neater with this one, and probably because there is less room to play with like you guys said before... Seems to be working quite well but only used it a little so far. No leaks at all and if anything might be a little on the dry side, not burnt if you know what I mean so I think I will snip away a bit more cotton from the juice well and see what that does I can now appreciate the use of drippers more and will use it for home use, I just love the simple life with a tank when out and about. The last time I dripped was in the early days with the cigalikes, would drip into the little cart mouthpiece and tried all the little tricks with cotton, wicking, cutting up straws to get them to wick better, that feels soooo long ago now!

the worst part is when you have a good wick and go to change it the coil deforms and you have to make a new one .....
I think I did that like 100 times (some juices I had were vile and nothing short of a fresh wick would do) before switching to Clapton wire (the pre made kanthal stuff on a roll) built 4 decks with it haven't had to replace any of them so far in the last 3 weeks been swapping wicks out frequently then a quick burn off till its no longer black let cool (for 45 minutes or longer) then in with a fresh bit of wick and away we go,
the trick is always build the coil the same size then you see how thick a strip to cut off the pad and every time you get a good one..... made a mistake when I used the wrong size former cut the standard wick and it wasn't big enough and that build went in the bin......

Will try some Clapton coil once I get used to the basics and seems to be going well so far dripper is working well still and the Aromamizer is starting to perform really well now as well It started off so so, but think this was down to being a new tank, letting everything bed in and also, I was using a new flavor juice I had never tried before. I also took a bit off the wick and this has also helped a lot and still no leaking and running at 55W produces good results so am very pleased with them both. Think I prefer the Aromamizer with the 2 hole band as it seems to give more flavor as well. Am also tempted to chop off the spit guard on the drip tip as think it is quite restrictive and none of my other drip tips fit very well.

marksixysixyou can always buy a new drip tip, I personally like the feel of the angled ones and they provide a nice anti spit feature just by having the angle I particularly like the fact there cheap as chips to get, ok from china you have ot wait a while for arrival but from uk sellers there still under £4 each and you can get some funky lumiglow plastic ones as well *tip if looking for angled drip tips the best ones I found were rotary drip tips, most of the others are just normal stubby straight pipes, the rotary ones though come apart for easy cleaning and rinsing under the tap
