so I'm contemplating getting one as my xtar vc4 only charges at .2amps with 3 batteries,this efest claims to charge at .5amps with 6 so what I want to know are they worth the money?anyone got one and how they finding it?

I have heard some people having problems with them, with 1 bay stopping working, but so far mine has been in use since Christmas without any problems, I haven't tried the 2 battery 2A charging, but have had 2 x 1A plus 3 x 0.5A and 6 x 0.5A charging.

I was running mine off the pc and with more than 2 batts on charge was seeing the current trail off quite fast down to 0.2amps, then I got one of thesewww.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016UVQMCW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 to replace a couple of faulty mains power adaptors (phones mostly) and it will charge all 4 cell slots at 1amp providing nothing else is plugged in at the same time (I think that's because my phone never wants more than 0.25amps)

you could save yourself a few quid and possibly a few plug sockets in the bargain getting a new mains adaptor

just a thought because seeing something that has 3 fixed charge options instead of adaptive rate charging for the cells in it would worry me quite a lot, especially reading that the cells get noticeably warm when charging normally (never had that on the xtar vc4)

then again you might be liking the app monitoring side of it, which is probably better than constantly looking at the charger to see if anything is finished yet lol

it might be my mains charger that isn't letting the vc4 use its potential but still,charging 6 bats at .5amp would save me some time lol

If you really want to save "time" USB, 4 and 6 bay chargers are the worst way to go IMO. I use 2 x Xtar SP2 and @ 2 A can charger 4 VTC4s in 70 mins or 4 25Rs in 90 mins, it make life a lot easier I only need to find 90 mins where I will be in the room with the charger while charging. Not all batteries will charge at 2 A so check first, the two I listed have a fast charge rating of 4 A.

ouch, i'm getting two done in under an hour or 3 done in under 2 hours

to be honest the problem sounds like input amps rather than anything else,

when I was running it off the pc it would take many hours just as your getting from it now though .....

No way you are charging 25Rs in under an hour on a 1 A charger unless they are only 30-40% discharged, IIRC they take me 90 mins or so from 3.3 V on a 2 A charger.

Rough calc of charge times for 25R

2 A = 75-90 mins
1 A = 130-150 mins
0.5 A = 300-340 mins
0.25 A = 600-630 mins

2500 mAh so fast charge phase is 2.5/charge_current in hours them add 10-30 minutes for the constant voltage stage

ahh I must confess I only pull them out of the mod when it says battery low, as to what voltage that is I never actually bothered to check, i'll have to look at it next time one of the twin 18650's need swapping out.

on the subject of batteries I have a question for you about the rx200, I've noticed that the back cover seems to make a mark in the insulation sleeve on the 25r's but not the vtc4's is that normal or indicating a dodgy cell ?

I wouldn't think a mark from the cover is anything to worry about, is is just paint rubbing off?  The most important bit of the wrap is around the top of the battery as holes or tears there make accidental shorts much easier.
