Krixus Re-Wickable Tank and TC vaping..

I have one of these on preorder with Fasttech.  Its with growing anticipation that i wait for this to arrive, with its long life tungsten/ceramic coil i am hoping to use it with a dna200 mod and a tungsten wire profile for TC vaping.

The Horizon Krixus Rewickable Ceramic Sub-Ohm Tank is the newest and most advanced Horizon Tech flagship tank, utilizing a new Rewickable Ceramic Coil (RCC) System that allows users to replace the cotton exterior of their tank systems, greatly increasing the usable lifespan of each core while reducing overall maintenance cost. Each RCC System measures approximately 0.3 ohms, and features a porous ceramic core that allows for 60 to 120W of output while offering the purity of taste and rapid wicking that ceramic cores have become renown for. when i ordered the beast the coils were not even posted for sale im off to look for a £9 replacement now ..

Cheers striker42 this one is a bit of a punt. as i understand it the coil is tungsten with some ceramic covering, this may take a significant time to heat up initially??

I am banking on using a dna200 preheat feature to overcome this, and hopefully with a tungsten tc profile loaded may also be able to vape in TC mode too..

Yes I've been looking at the krixus and it is good to use with the tungsten TCR and can even be used with a nickel or titanium TCR as it's in between them.
The thing that's putting me off is you need like 75w apparently for it to vape well, hence quicker battery drain.
I'm still tempted though but I think we're going to see even better ceramics this year coming

I can't see these being great for temp control because the ceramic will act as a damper (it will take too much time for the heat from the coil to pass through the ceramic) and it will be even poorer than large ss coils, though the preheat punch (degrees below temp the preheat stops at) will probably get you a lot closer than anything else. But I suspect the best tc vape will be doing what I do for ss: max the preheat and set the watts at a level that just maintains the temp just below the limit.

Im not sure if the whole coil is coated with ceramics? i guess i will just have to wait and see about that.. while i do tend to gravitate towards TC mods and vaping i still use kanthal in most of my rebuildable tanks so if its not a TC atty i wont be too disappointed, the ramp upto vaping temps may be a problem tho as im not too keen on sucking air before the vape starts.

I think the ceramic thing is promising, but IMO it will be a while before they tune it to work well wit temp limiting, this one has looks like it has the silicon on hte bottom of the head trapping the wire which cause problems getting accurate res. From the pic here www.fasttech.com/products/0/10020457/4366900-authentic-horizon-krixus-rewickable-ceramic-coil it looks fully encased apart from the legs.

You can use DNA200 to get the temp limited preheat and just vape in watts when that's finished for super quick heat up, just set the temp highish, max the preheat and have the watts at what you like to vape at (start low).

I set mine up and made sure that the wick was well and truly soaked
I put it on a VT200 and left it in temp mode at 450f and.......... 38w
The coil reads 0.35ohms
For my strawberry milk it was the perfect setting.
I like this setting so much that I haven't even tried it in wattage mode.
It took about 2/3s of a tank to break the wick in properly and now it's vaping great
Pure flavour and very decent clouds with the added bonus of zero spitback- that I've experienced yet anyway
I'm quite impressed with it

It was out of the box tc nickel 200 to be precise, it worked fine for me.
It's now sitting on a cuboid with the tungsten TCR and its working OK.

It's an outstanding Vape which ever way you go.
