I think it is Chrissie it does have a slight green tinge to the ends of the new leaves but but predominantly red throughout the season deepening late summer through to autumn it is one of my favourite things in the garden and jessy and jasper nap underneath it in the summer months watch this space for pictures

Cant wait to see your summer pics Queenie and i will defo be getting some bone meal for if i ever get it in the ground. Thats a lovely pic Chrissie,i see yours has plenty of protection from other plants and trees,mine will be sat stood on its own slap bang in the middle of an unprotected area.Does yours turn green at all?

I have a small Acer, I will have to dig up to take with me to the new house soon, mine is very deep purple, loses it leaves in winter. Will have to look if there is any green at all, never noticed any though.

I have a small Acer, I will have to dig up to take with me to the new house soon, mine is very deep purple, loses it leaves in winter. Will have to look if there is any green at all, never noticed any though. hi Sandra I dug mine up to move house about 5 years ago just dig plenty round the root to not disturb it too much I must say mine is much happier at our current address

Thanks, will try to do as little disturbance as poss, I am not moving far, will decide a spot in the new garden, dig the hole, come back here, dig plenty around it, put it in the trailer, take it straight up and plant it, then cross fingers and toes, they are so pretty and I had it off my Mam, so never want anything to happen to it.

Rosie as the new leaves come through each year, they start off green with just a tinge of pink. Just been out & taken some new pics of it so you can see what it's looking like at the moment. By the end of summer (if we get one ) it will turn to a bright red

Hi Guys, don't forget a feed at this time of year. (an ericaceous feed one if you have it) Also as mentioned they don't like Full Sun, more of a dappled shade/sheltered spot and they don't like to dry out. The leaves wil scorch at little in the full sun. Remember if it's in a pot it is more reliant on you for food and water. Trees are a lot more hardly than we give them credit for and often come back. Hope this helps.
