Wow I am overwhelmed by the friendliness on here. Thanks all for the warm welcomes and already the advice given. That one suggested does seem ideal. I'll show her what is available to her. She was worried about the initial cost but that seems rather inexpensive so that is also a bonus.
I'll up date you with how she has gotten on!

The initial cost can put some off, but work out that cost to a months worth of stinkies That's how I personally started to vape. Spent a months worth of money of gear and had to stick at it Almost three years on and I'm still smoke free

The T18 is a great faff-free choice with easy to buy spares and a decent battery life and supplied atoiser. I was lucky enough to win once in a competition recently and as I did no need it gave it to a female friend that had given up the stinkies over a year ago with Champix but was feeling the urge to smoke. She loves it, and has managed to keep off the stinkies, she does not use it very often only when she feels the "urge" usually when she's out having a drink. Good luck, and all the best for your Mum.

Just ordered the T22 kit as suggested. About to order some eliquids. What recommended PG/VG Ratio would you suggest. She smokes around 15 smellies a day so I figured 12mg would be a good figure to start with.
Also ordered replacement coils, how long do these last and how do you know when they need to be changed?

jimnotjon - might be worth getting a bit of 18mg too, just in case the urge gets to her! I can't comment on the longevity of the coils as I have never used them, but if she will vape fruits or menthols, they should last a couple of weeks at the very least. The way to quantify the cost of new coils is "how much would she have spent on tobacco in the same period?".

I would agree with the 18mg, I smoked pretty much the same and 18mg is were I started after a talk with a local vendor, never looked back but did still get the urge for a cig. That's were the will power needs to kick in and have a vape instead did that for over a year and even tried coming down which did not work, now changed to sub ohm and 6mg still going good.

Thank you. Sorry for the silly questions. One more thing, a few posts up someone posted where to get e liquids from. I've been reading some contain ingredients as bad if not worse than smoking, I don't want to cause more harm than good. (Nicotine poisoning/ diacetyl and their effects)some flavours worse than others
Also with regards to your recommend mg what mix shall I get with smoke/throat hit. 50 50? With her smoking around 15 a day, is it recommend she just has a puff on in for 5 mins as often as she normally would smoke? Thanks again for all your help.

Only thing worse than smoking is radioactive substances. All these things in flavours have been exaggerated by the ants to a tremendous extent. Breathing on an average city street is more dangerous.

I would think try her with initially with 18mg/ml and maybe 70/30 PG/VG. Should get good flavour and some "throat hit"(something smoking has) with that. (PG carries flavour better and has more throat hit than VG, which produces more vapour). When vaping, it is slightly different to smoking.... longer slower 'drags' of around 3-4 sec. I'd let her puff away on it as often as she likes, rather than try to limit her of 5 minutes of intense vaping at a time. Unlike a real cig, there's nothing to stop her taking a couple of drags and putting it down but maybe using more frequently than she would a cigarette.... leave it up to her. But encourage her to use it, she will need to get enough nicotine to satisfy her craving from stopping smoking. (Remember nicotine, when not burnt, is not believed to be particularly 'bad', and in fact some studies have shown it to be beneficial). Re. nicotine poisoning, this is highly unlikely unless she drinks the bottle of eliquid (which would likely make her vomit/sick); if she vapes too much she would experience similar effects to chain smoking real cigarettes and would likely temporarily stop vaping herself. Light-headedness / symptoms would quickly pass. There's a lot of flavour choices out there.... the biggest struggle will be finding a flavour that she's happy with, which usually is trial and error. Quite often it's not a tobacco flavour.

Just an update:
Thank you so much you wonderful people for your advice. I got her up and running with hit. Already her consumption of smellies has been cut down and she loves vaping. She was concerned she'd still get cravings for ciggies but non at all (or at least she tells me!).
Found it odd at first, she said the throat hit was strong, and gave her a horse throat but that's all gone and she's using it (still with a few ciggies) daily, so once again. Thanks!!
