Evening all, from Lincolnshire here.
Stumbled across your forum by accident to be honest whilst researching vape and the terminology.
I'm a non smoker myself, so doing my own research is a bit like the blind leading the blind. I am on here however to ask advice regarding my mother. She's not very tech savvy but I'm looking at some advice for her. She smokes about 20 per day, either windsor blue king size or JPS, but has started (from what she tells me) lung issues. From what I understand, its a start of a slippery slope. A friends mum died a few years back due to smoking and was on oxygen tanks for the last year or so of her life. I love my mum to bits so don't ever want to see this happen to her. In an ideal world, I'd love her just to quit but I appreciate how hard it can be. Her doctor recommended vaping as a way of reducing her smoking, and hopefully come off them all together.
I bought her an e-cig last year, she didn't give it much of a try and said she didn't like it, but she seems more keen on the vaping idea.
My question is, what do you recommend for her as a first time vaper? Something that'll be easy and convenient to increase the chances of her sticking to it?
The doctor suggested a local shop that sells them (Vape Hq if anyone has heard of them) but having read on here, I am a bit confused as to whether B&M shops are going to rip her off.
Any advice would be superb.
Jb.

Hi. What part of Lincolnshire? I may be able to recommend a decent b&m local to you.

Hi Jim. You would think that Lincoln would have a load of decent Vape shops but I know of only 2 and I wouldn't give them the time of day. We have 2 recent shops in Boston if you get down this way, otherwise I think your best bet will be an online shop. I had a similar situation to you last year. There are so many combinations everyone will come up with loads of different suggestions. What worked for a friend of mine was an istick mini 10w and an aspire nova clearomiser got them both and some liquid from ltecigs at a reasonable price

You go for it, jimnotjonBuy her a good refillable e-cig and encourage her. Vape HQ is decidedly not impressing me, but I am Mr Zero Tolerance when it comes to prices. ..and you can't trust Google either.. not really. AAEC will look after you, so you can do the best for your Mum.

I believe something simple would be a good start, possibly not anything In the sub ohm area, so an I stick type of set up with a aspire or kanger type tank Might be an idea to look at, however the Tank could be bottom fill Could your mother work with that, would be a consideration.

Hello and welcome to AAEC jimnotjon . You have probably chosen the best and friendliest forum on the www for help, whether for yourself or for somebody else, we care not a jot, if it's help you need then you will get it in abundance here. Good to hear your Mum has shown an interest in vaping of her own accord, which would indicate that she is possibly more determined to have a right go at it this time round. There are loads of decent starter kits around, to save muddying the water I'll pass on suggesting anything, but Get Off My Cloud is a man that knows his stuff and has given a couple of devices above, personally I would opt for the T22 purely for the extra run time from the battery. Another consideration is juice. It can be a sore arse trying to find a flavour that you can use as an all day vape. If you get her up and running with a set up and encounter any problems, just shout up, there will normally be someone around to offer up some help. Hope you get sorted out, all the best and good luck to your Mum.

jimnotjon - h and a warm welcome from me too! Ok folks, let's keep this simple - the T22 Endura is a good bit of kit, and I think it's ideal for this situation. Good battery run time, better tank capacity, easy to maintain, and not too hefty to hold or use. I for one would wholeheartedly recommend this for your mum, and please let us know how she gets on, we may be able to help some more!

I'd say keep away from e-lite type fag lookalikes. Took me an age to get my wife off of that expensive junk.
Flavours are a problem for anybody. First timers... its enough to put them off straight away and thats way apart from fiddling with electronic devices. Keep it simple and sweet...or for flavours semi sweet perhaps?
I have my wife kitted out with 2 iStick 30W units and two Kayfuns clones (top fill tanks). Thats so she has a backup system when I'm not around to configure her out of the latest error. Getting there though and she is hooked...facing up to a Glaswegian girl is a bit tricky!
The Kayfuns are rebuildable only so you'll need the tanks mentioned above I suspect and that have ready made screw in atomisers.

calnorth, I'm with you there entirely! My OH has a Coolfire 4 with a Kayfun 3 clone, and I'm forever working out what she's done with it to cause a malfunction! Screwing it on too tightly, not filling correctly and ending up with a handful of juice (how does she manage THAT!?) etc. I think something fairly small and compact like the T22 would be ideal in this instance, and as people are saying, it is the flavour of the first few juices which is critical. Maybe RY4? I know it has been superseded by many other better flavours, but it's close enough to a tobaccco flavour without being one, if you know what I mean
