This is what Tech from Microsoft emailed me, could be of use. 1. Run start menu troubleshooter •Copy and paste this link aka.ms/startmenuts to your browser and run it
2. SFC •Step 1: Right click in Start Menu •Step 2: Choose Command Prompt (Admin) •Step 3: Enter this command = sfc/scannow •Step 4: Hit Enter •Step 5: Restart PC
3. DISM •Step 1: Right click in Start Mene •Step 2: Choose Command Prompt (Admin) •Step 3: Enter this command = dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth •Step 4: Hit Enter
Second part of DISM •Step 1: Right click in Start Menu •Step 2: Choose Command Prompt (Admin) •Step 3: Enter this command = dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth •Step 4: Hit Enter

if the barstewards had done W10 properly there'd be no need for these random happenings... sound and wifi driver issues are rife in 10 even on newer hardware, never mind older stuff
