Dodgy Wood Skills.

All five coats of varnish done.
It has a slight shiny look but not as much as if I'd used gloss varnish which is good.
I may use white spirit carefully to dull it even more so it's really matt.

It's all over but for making sure it works and some tinkering (my soldering was no the best).

Showing the dimensions of the box with a Samsung 25R 18650 for scale.
The flash catches the shine of the varnish, but "aging" should get the shine off without compromising the liquid proofing of the surface.

Nice one, love the colour of the wood in the last shots I think the flash has made it look brighter in the others. I can see for my self in a weeks time

Yes you can.

Love walnut. The same company I bought the panels from does other woods as well including mahogany which is tempting also.

Unlike many builds I've seen I attached a trailing lead for the JST-XH battery to board connection for convenience and less stress on the board.
Also I used velcro to secure the 1500mAh battery inside to box to stop rattle.

Everything working fine.
I'll get about a day of use from the battery at my power levels which is to be expected.
Currently charging from flat on PC USB and watching it on the escribe software, so only 500mA and 4 hours gets it to 50% lol
Luckily I have 1A capable power supplies, including the power bank that is going to Vapefest with me.
Reckon at 1A it might still take 4-5.5 hours to fully charge, maybe up to 6.5 depending how efficient the Evolv 1A balanced charging board is at stuffing that last little bit into the cell.

2 days of use and the board blew.

Evolv might make the most hi-tech but the manufacturing quality is seriously lacking.
The failure rate on their products is abysmal going by all the people I know who had their stuff fail.

Was thinking of maybe getting a DNA75 for the smaller box but will have to think long and hard.

If they can't make them reliable they just shouldn't bother.

That's unlucky, but out of 3 DNA 30s, 3 DNA 40s, 8 DNA 200s and 2 DNA 75s the only failures I've had were in the beta testing program, all the release versions I have had have been rock solid. They are not built proof some do fail, I just honestly think it is a low ratio and they are at the higher end of the reliability scale with the exception of the DNA 40 screen issues. Plus the warranty is second to none.

Customer care better be bloody brilliant.
I saved for quite a while to get that board and all the parts I wanted.
I spent a great deal of time reading about other peoples issues with the "low ratio" failures and took a great deal of care.

They can replace the board but I've lost many hours of my time and will have to waste much more trying to get it resolved.

Now got RMA details from Evolv so after Vapefest I shall get it sent off.

Dunno how quick the turnaround will be but I'm still pissed off.
I reckon it was only around 320 puffs I got out of it (after it charged after the first run through on the battery the software said it was at 304).

I do have a USB microscope that may arrive today so I can have a close up shufty at the board to look where it might have failed.
Doubt I will be able to see it though (already looked with a magnifying glass).

For those with an interest I shall still be taking the box itself along to Vapefest for people to look at and marvel at the bad woodworking. . .

The post each way takes about 5-7 days, normally Evolv will get your replacement board out in a day, one thing they are bad at is telling you your board is on the way though.

So are you getting hold of a 60 and 250 as well ?
