want to try some of this sikk clapton wire i keep hearing about, where can i get a spool of it? would prefer quiet thin clapton wire and in the uk if possible thanks peeps

I am a little confused. You want to try any old clapton wire or a specific brand? If it generic, let me know your inner / outer requirements and I will knock you up a couple of coils.

Oddly I find coil making very therapeutic.

I didn't even realise there were different sizes of Clapton, I'm only just getting to grips with Kanthal Put a dual coil Clapton build in my Griffin and found it took too long to heat up, but I don't know what gauge it was. What is the size range?

bro ss claptons are the bizz as they ramp up quicker
can proper bang out clouds and stuffs
fused clapons might be more what your after depending on what oms and numb of coils your using

Apologies for the thread hijack. Stainless Steel? I'll have a look for some. Using 2 coils total build resistance about 0.4 at 40 to 50 watts

I'm still new to ss myself because I didn't get sensible sizes to play with ie 0.3 0.5 and 0.7 317L but using it as norm coils it ramps up real quick

did build a big stupid 0.5 fussed Clapton with 0.3 wapped round it as that was the only size ss I have and it came in at 0.5 ohm and worked rather well

am ordering some 0.16 ss so can do some proper messing about

kanthal now seems to be muted for flavour but it might just be me with new toy but fave sensible Clapton is 0.3 wrapped in 0.16 as you can build a reasonably high ohm coil with a lowish ramp up

if you have a drill and some 0.5 wire as well as 0.2 have a go at making your own its dead easy(prob easiest size to start with)
