Hi all.

I've been gawking thro your open window for a while now so I thought I should join up and properly introduce myself.

I'm Dave, male, 56 yo, married, unemployed by choice (and arguably unemployable *grin*) who lives in Perth, Western Australia. I was a heavish smoker (30 + per day) for 37 years before switching to vaping just over three years ago. Since receiving that first vape mail I've not looked back. Health and wealth have both improved and SWMBO is delighted I'm off the smokes.

I've been involved with several vaping forums over the last few years but I have been disillusioned with some of the goings on I've seen. I wish for a simple friendly respectful place without agro.

I started with simple Evods and Protanks on ego's and spinners, had a period with carto tanks but I have long since settled on my simple selection of MTL RTA atties using homespun kanthal coils on top of simple VW (Variable Watt) mods. I've no problem with others who might like fancier gear, lots of watts and big clouds or TC or special coils and such, but my simple setups "do it" for me.

Anyway, that's me... I'm sure we'll chat soon enough in the threads.

Good Morning DaveJ welcome to AAEC and how lovely that you've signed up and introduced yourself - great to meet you we're an eclectic bunch here, as you probably know and all types of vapers!

I still happen to run with some carto tanks and use rebuildable cartos as I like teh vape from them and my favourite gear is my rev3 billet box but my downfall is drip-tips ..... love the acrylics so have a rainbow collection

I hear that vaping rules are quite strict in Australia, how is it really for you over there?

TBH they do beat us at most sports so we have to make the most of it if we do ever win anything which is very rare

Oh, yeah - you hear right. There are some crazy ANTZ who run the show around here.

Nicotine suitable for vaping is not allowed to be sold or supplied. At all. Anywhere in Oz.

Federal law allows personal import of Nic - but state laws prohibit possession of said nic. So I/we can order and import nic/juice but we break local law soon as we take possession of it.

Some states still allow sale of the hardware and there are some vape B&M shops (over east - the nearest is about 2000 km from me ), but this state (in particular) bans the supply or sale of ANY vape hardware - although ownership of hardware isn't yet against the local laws.

Oz Vape shops - online or B&M can only legally supply nic free juice. We need to seperately import the nic then mix into our nic free juice - or import ready to vape. Or go the whole way into fully DIY mixing.

To vape in my state (especially) takes some initiative and planning. And relies on having an internet connection. As a result vaping certainly hasn't had the same uptake in Oz that it has elsewhere.

Well, I'm not really into much sporting wise. I tend to prefer tinkering in the shed - I think you folk might say the workshop? The rough room out the back with all the tools and wood and sawdust and stuff....

But, if pushed, I kinda like watching some motor racing - especially the Bikes. MotoGP does get me in.

I'm not surprised, with all those bans in force, that vaping hasn't had the same uptake in Oz that it has elsewhere.
