I'm having some silicon grommets made for Nautilus coils. They are a part that I haven't been able to source for rebuilding the coil heads. They don't last because the coil legs burn into the rubber.
2 pieces were supplied to test and have been used for 4 weeks. On inspection today they both have grooves from the heat of the coil legs and scorch marks.
The material is silicone grade 80 which is supposed to be OK up to 450°F.

dunno what temp, but its the same issue in kanger heads... the silicon seem ok for ages, but the white rubber/plastic ones seem to burn very quickly even when using nr-r-nr coils

Hi GunJackDon't do many Kanger recoils these days but I found tearing also a problem. That's why I went for a stronger silicone grade. You've peed on my bonfire though. My next step was to get someone to make me NR/R/NR 2mm, 27 gauge, 1.4Ω coils.

Trouble is that the heat is concentrated in one spot. According to the literature I have next to me at work silicone is actually only good for just over 200 degrees c. The max temperature can only ever be a rough estimte because there are many differing factors. When the tests are done it is just a test button of the rubber exposed to the temperature for a certain period of time which isn't accurate to the actual use of the seal or the finished product

I've seen them before, I think on your recommendation, but as I can't tell what they are made from I wouldn't buy.
I've still got a load of silicone ones for Kanger coils.
For the Nautilus BVCs I want the grommets to have the 2 lugs that locate in the grooves on the bottom of the coil head. The 2 test pieces don't have them and liquid leaked from there.
I recoil for 10 people who get their liquid from me. I started giving them wicking tape for them to rewick but only 2 of them do it successfully. Now I give the others ready wicked coils and they swap used for rewicked when they collect their liquid. Unlike us hobbyists they don't deal with flooding very well. So I'm trying to get leaking/seepage to the minimum.

Thanks for looking. I did get these hoping they would be ok for 2mm but they weren't.

Thanks for looking. I did get these hoping they would be ok for 2mm but they weren't. Did you try widening out a pre-made coil with a needle/mandrel etc.? Maybe unwinding one turn to allow for the extra diameter....just a thought

I tried using a Zapper to make my own NR/R/NR coils but every time it zapped I jumped and it all fell apart.
