Tagging Q for his valuable input on this subject (one I know nothing whatsoever about, I should add!)

FT also do calibration weights if you require extreme accuracy. I also have the one above and it is small for use as a regular kitchen scale, but I suppose it depends on what you usually use it for in the kitchen.

How did you find those scales from FT, Get Off My Cloud? Does drawing power via the micro USB (rather than batteries) over-ride the 3-minute auto shut-off?

How did you find those scales from FT, Get Off My Cloud ? Does drawing power via the micro USB (rather than batteries) over-ride the 3-minute auto shut-off? No it doesn't and when you get them the auto shut off is set at 30 seconds but you can change it easily. Turn on the scales and hold down the TARE button until it shows AU 30 then press the UNIT button to select a time for auto shut off it goes up to 240 which is actually 4 minutes not the advertised 3 minutes, then just press the TARE button once more and it's set. P.S when using them the display will dim out after 10 seconds of idle but it's only the screen that blacks out that's not the auto shut off, once you start adding weight again the screen will light up again automatically. I really like them the display is nice and big and bright, the ability to power them via USB is great too, i use ejuicemeup on my laptop for recipes so it's handy to just plug the scales in to the USB. I ordered myself a second set as a backup if they ever crap out on me. My only gripe with them is they come in a synthetic leather case which for some weird reason has a horrible chemical smell to it, i soaked the case in a jug full of hot water and washing up liquid overnight then rinsed it off with fresh water and left it to air on a windowsill and dry and that got rid of the smell.
