I have been mixing for a while now and have many vaper friends around me. The problem i have is once they taste mine i end up making it for them too. Don't get me wrong i dont mind and find mixing quite theraputic but the issue i have is that they all use different Nic strengths . They all love my custard and i have considered mixing it in bulk.
I have a question though:
Lets say i make a litre of custard with no nicotine, is it as simple as when i go to give someone 50ml at 3mg, puting 50ml back in the calculator and deducting the nicotine ml from 50ml and adding nic back up to 50ml or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks in advance.

I think you've answered your own question more or less i.m.o. Yup, put it back in the calculator. Let's say you have to add 4.1ml of Nicotine (for 6mg), then you'll need 45.9ml of the finished zero mix. Or you could just chuck in just over 4ml and top up the bottle (if the bottle is close), save measuring out 45.9ml. I top up all my bottles with a swig of VG. It's hardly gonna change much on a 50ml or 100ml bottle. Then again Strictly speaking, you probably have diluted the flavor %. (by 8.2%)... My brain hurts...too many Old Speckeld Henns.

I personally would take a average of them all say 4mg do the mix with this in the calculator BUT leave the nic out then just add what they want when needed say 3 mg then just add that amount of nic if 5mg then add that amount its not going to be far out by doing it that way. Most if any people will not tell any difference just make sure you dont use all your nic stock up on others keep plenty back for your self mate.

Well that is the thing if you are making up liters of juice at a time for a number of people you need to start stocking up a lot of 72mg/ml (7.2%) nicotine base will it can still be purchased in the UK.

Is that comment in relation to them banning the sale of nicotine as i have been stocking up . My last order was 5l each of vg and pg and 2l of nicotine. I know ill be able to get the base liquids but was concerned after reading recently about the ban on nicotine. Is there and evidence of a date for this yet as i would consider buying more over the next month or two.

Yep it won't take long to make a big dent in your stock mixing for others, then before you know it there is none left. Yes i dont doubt there will be ways round it but is it worth the hassle when you can get it now and just sit on it .

It is already the case that retailers can only sell bulk 72 nic base that they already have in stock. It will be totally banned for retail sale from May 17. After that it is 10ml bottles of 20mg/ml. Mixing a liter will not be fun or as cheap. Your 2L will sadly not last long if you are sharing it around. I have 5L in the frezzer just for me and one friend. & I will be getting more.
edit as blaster says it will in practice probably be 18mg to give retailers a margin of error. The law says 20mg.

I'm in the same boat Stomper where as I've been making loads for friends. This is being stopped now though as nic is going to be the big problem this coming year. I've been emptying a demijohn of premade custard and just adding the nic. When I made the custard I just omitted the nic that the calculater told me to add to make 3mg strength. Then I input say 100ml of the recipe with the desired strength into the ELR calculator, put the capacity of nic in the measuring vessel, then just top up to the 100ml with the premade juice. That's close enough in my book and have never had a complaint. Yes if they wanted say 6mg strength it would weaken the flavour by a little but not enough to worry about. It never happened to me but if they wanted 18mg then it probably wouldn't work. If you need to make such big variations then I would suggest making up the flavour base with just the concentrates and leave it steeping. Then when you need to make the finished juice you can input the flavour base at what percentage you use and add the nic, pg and vg to the calculater as required. As the concentrates have already blended together, the finished juice should steep within a week me thinks. Someone else may put me right on that?

I mix 0 mg and 50 mg both flavoured to the same percentage, let them both steep and then I can mix any strength fully stepped later EG 5 mg = 90% 0 mg + 10% 50 mg, 6% = 12% and 88%, 3% = 94% & 6% . I started doing this years ago when I didn't have to want to wait for my liquid to steep changing strength and find it so convenient I can drop nic or raise nic without any delay or loss in flavour.
Adding non flavoured 72 mg nic will be close, but when people can only get 20 mg they will need 3.6 times as much it will weaken the flavour, for 5 mg you will need 25% the equivalent of using a third of the flavouring.

Just a heads up for folk mixing up their concentrates and allowing them to steep, then adding the nic. There's been quite a bit of talk recently saying it may be better to mix in this way than the norm of mixing it all up and steeping after. I am currently steeping a version of GVC where it suggested steeping the flavours etc first, then adding the required nic once the steep is completed will produce a near identical flavour as the original. Only time will tell i guess.
