From our experience and with numerous mods purchased over the past 2 and a bit years we have only had 2 failures, and they were both at the bottom of the price range, first being a vamo, and the second an Istick20 (both mysteriously were being used by my wife i may add)
So for me the mid to slightly more expensive mods that have certainly come to market in the last year or so seem to be pretty damn reliable and good value for money.
I also agree the mods have become cheaper, whilst also continuing to improve with time.

I'm afraid that I can't comment on the long term reliability of the numerous regulated and mechanical mods that I have bought over the past 4 years as I tend to sell them on after a couple of months.

I have six regulated mods. A Provari (five years old), 2 Xvosticks DNA 40 (both 2 years old), 2 RX200 (both 1 year old) and a Lost Vape Therion DNA75. (new)
Never had any faults or unreliability with any of them. To be fair it is a couple of years since I actually used the Provari.
BTW Amazingly after it sitting on the shelf for over a year the Provari suddenly started beeping last week to announce its battery was about to give up. I did not even realise it had a battery installed.

As a vaping technophobe (probably not a good thing to admit ) I'm really happy with something like a Pico. Well built, solid and easy to change the batteries and charge through USB when necessary. I know that the first mod I bought (Coolfire IV+) is "disposable" and it's battery life has started to seriously diminish after a year of constant hard graft. I certainly view things like mechanical mods as being for "advanced" and more technical vapers. My knowledge of ohms and batteries is sadly pitiful. Safe and simple for me

So does anyone know if EVERYTHING vape related has to be registered/conform to TPD in some kind of way or are some things totally exempt ? Ive read those links that Perpetua posted & still find it a tad confusing...(its alomst like they intended to make it confusing) So only mods that have built in tanks will need to conform to tpd ? does that include sqonkers ? would the packaging for something like a mod intended for vaping have to be regulated just like coughing nails OR not because it doesnt contain nicotine ?? I'm still in the dark about nic base liquid & if/how thats going to be regulated.

I'm still in the dark about nic base liquid & if/how thats going to be regulated. The UK implementation of the TPD Limits the selling of tanks to 2ml. This presumably will apply to integrated tanks/mods i.e. squonkers. It limits selling anything that contains nicotine to 20mg/ml (in practice this will mean 18). In addition 10ml is the maximum size for anthing that contains nicotine. There is aload of other stuff about getting compliance for each e-juice that contains nicotine. Nothing in the TPD that makes buying or possession of anything illegal. It just refers to sales Nothing about batteries or mods. Nothing about flavourings that do not contain nicotine.

This may be the shape of things to come in that half the ruddy box has this stupid warning on it although as purchased it contains no nic whatsoever. I think the whole EU bureaucracy should have a warning stamped over it 'May Contain Nuts'

sydsut , does that kit arrive in the packaging filled with juice ready to vape ? If it does not and I am almost certain it does not then report it to trading standards. Edit sydsut already said it contained no nicotine; the label is a false description.

No it doesn't and it came on it's own, no bottles of e-liquid or anything else. Makes me think that lavvy pans should come with a warning "Contains Shit and Piss which are highly toxic substances"

I've got a couple of 30w Isticks that I use every day at work and have done for over two years, they still hold a good charge and cost under £20 each, what more do you want?

Short memories, the UK backed European wide med regs, sure the UK would be better the the EU now but at the time the UK did vote for med regs then when that was defeated in Europe we voted for the TPD, if we weren't in the EU then we would probably have med regs now. I totally agree the TPD is nuts, but it is far better than med regs or the USA's laws though. IMO it is lazy politicos the world over (including the EU) only listening to lobbyists aided by some high profile lairs in Public Health, just look at what they did in the USA and you can't blame that on the EU. It's the "post truth" world that we live in, EU, UK, USA they are all just a bunch of politicos who treat truth as an unimportant detail compared to a headline in a tabloid.

Surely this is just bureaucratic bullshit & it wouldnt surprise me if the big tobacco companies demanded this type of labeling just because their cancer sticks have to have it on them. They dont have that warning on rizzlas, ashtrays & most other products used with tobacco
