They used to use lard in their hair in lobeydosser 's day Sorry jtc, I only use Lard these days to rub over my body to keep me warm during my morning daily swim.
Because we are so close to Faslane Navy Base, the lard helps if I get run over by a Nuclear Sub as it will just slide off.

You guys may or may not be interested, but my local Tesco had Philips OneBlade Pro QP6510/30 Hybrid Trimmer and Shaver (12-Length Comb) reduced from £65 to £16.25 and they had 3 of them and it's only a small supermarket. There are 701 reviews here www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01FFSI8GO?ref=emc_b_5_t I grabbed one and first impressions are good, but blades are £20 for 2 and they last 4 months.

Looks the business I've invested in a wahl detailer and nearly cut me neck off. I've had to learn how to adjust the blades

After using this a few times I think it is well worth a try @ £16.25 for those that get irritation from shaving, I only get it on my neck especially if I've let my stubble get too long and have to make too many parses. It is not as close shave as a microscreen or blade, more like a few hours after one of those shaves and looks just as good in the mirror. I don't get any irritation on my neck using this, I always get some from the microscreen and unlike a microscreen longer stubble in no issue at all. There is a small learning curve, for most of my face I drag like you would with a wet safety razor or a bic just pushing on my upper lip and sideburns.
