If it involved the Royal Mail, we have to factor in the £240 an hour equation for administration.
And the insurer who then wanted a £168.99 excess as there was a discrepancy in the small print on page 3,478 paragraph 9 subsection 1a.

ok.... looked at this from a different point of view.
Say there was ONLY $250 in the register at the start
Thief takes it.....so register empty
Thief uses the bill to buy $175 worth of goods........ hands over the $250.
Owner puts the $250 in the till....... and gives thief $75 change from his pocket.
So till is back to where it was at the start........ owner has lost $75 dollars from pocket........ and either whatever the cost price was for the goods....... or their potential retail value (which was $175)
So $250
