We seem to be hell bent on in supposing that anything against the use of e-cigs must be connected with rules or advice against smoking when in fact there may be different reason why e-cigs and their use in certain circumstances may be frowned upon. No M8; I know the Ins. Co's game....Any excuse to load the premium! The lanyard's a good idea tho' & I may go back to using one now I've got the Squeeze for driving. I did used to have one for My i-stick, & the trusty ol' MVP a while back......only stopped using it when the rings 'twixt cord & pouch came apart & the MVP/Taifun crashed to the ground on Jaywick prom.!! Squeeze is a lot lighter tho' so should be safer!

Insurance companies are a law unto themselves. A speeding ticket is off your licence after two years, in law, but not with insurance companies, it's 3 years for them. Why are they above the law?????
Quite apart from the smoke/vapour bit, I still think that vaping and driving is far safer than smoking and driving, but seriously, there are a lot of luxuries in cars these days where you have to take your eyes off the road, even if it is only for a split second, to work the dammed things.
Technology may be a wonderful thing but it fails completely when it has to be worked by humans and today's traffic conditions does not give us time to work these and drive safely.

I almost always have my e-Cig in my hand while driving, just like I used to with an analogue cig.
I don't buy the distraction argument, especially when I look at the dashboard of most modern cars, which look like something out of NASA control centres.
I guess it's just the insurance companies looking for creative ways to load the premiums and/or avoid paying out.

... then got asked: 'Do You, or anyone else in Your family (..I'm the only driver!!..) smoke? (pause) including e-cigarettes.'... Oh.... I've heard of similar nonsense undertaken by Life Insurance companies over on ECF. Fortunately I've not been affected by this type of thing yet. First - to ask the obvious - have they re-defined "smoking" to include something that doesn't include combustion? Second - yeah - modern cars have mucho distraction installed as a matter of course (radio, satnav, phones, etc) that can take drivers attention away from their task of concentrating on the road. When driving, I see plenty of evidence of drivers not paying attention. That's not necessary proof of one causing the other though - I'm convinced many of those showing signs of inattention are simply BAD Drivers and would remain so even without all the techno stuff in their cars. Third - I've found the cup holders in the center console of my car ideal to hold my mods. Even with "tube mods" I found a "stubby holder" fitted perfectly into the cup holder and provided ideal padding and extra height that held tube mods securely (think tall, old school Vamos and such). Fourth - I recall one time loosing the burning end of my cigarette down onto the seat, right next to & under my leg. Whilst wearing shorts. In heavy traffic. Man that hurt as I had to lean my leg on the burning ash/cigarette tip to snuff it out whilst trying to avoid crashing. Still have that burn scar. Fifth - insurance companies - Bah! They are a necessary evil. I agree with others who have already suggested the insurance people will go to great lengths to mitigate their risk of payouts. Me? In that position, I'd prolly lie to the insurance company about my use of e-cigs .... *shrug*

sydsut sneezing whilst driving is deemed as "Automatism" and as such is a statutatary defence in law under the road traffic act, ie no prosecution can succeed if used as a defence.
