Getting prepared for my holiday so I opened up one of my new (about a year old) Subtank minis (I keep a stock of them for the future), stuck a Ni200 head on it and though "Brand new these are the BEST stock tank", a couple of hours later had the 'no tank' message, assumed that I had a duff head so replaced it, same problem. Had a closer look and found that the centre pin (positive) of the tank was sitting below the negative outer, I know these are sliders so pushed it out a little and it worked for a while then went back to the problem, now thinking about it I cant work out why it should go 'concave' is there something I'm missing here, it's a brand new authentic tank... I've just replaced the bottom end with a FT clone and it works fine. Does anyone know of any tricks to salvage this base, would a (very) thin silicon washer under the pin work? and if so where can I get one

Push it out from inside and reseat. If that works and pushes in again, put a blob of solder on the pin, then file the blob flat

Or wrap a bit of wire around the base of the pin to act as a stopper you could try the grommet from the base of a coil to keep the pin out if it will fit

I had similar issues. Wrapped some .3 wire around the pin and stuck the pin back in. Worked great for a while till my wire packing unravelled slightly and shorted the tank. No biggy on a electronic device but had mine on a mech at the time. Ended up wrapping some cotton (the sewing kind) around the pin and knoting/trimming before sticking it back in.. Worked well and was a tad safer for my needs.

alas its one of the reasons I stopped using subtanks, I've a clutch of bases that don't contact with coil and some rba's with solder on... and I don't know which works on what so in a fit of pique I changed to other more reliable tanks.
which is a shame really as when they are on point, they vape just how I like and are sturdy and well made, bar the bloody pin!

The FT clone bases are not a great idea, I actually purchased the clone tanks, but some authentic bases. I didn't take long for the centre pin to fall out of the clone, so already using the proper base

I've used Subtank minis exclusively now for over a year and I still have one of my original (clones) working well, I had one where the pin fell out but figured that it had earned its keep, if I can sort this issue out I will continue to use them as I think they're great
