thanks to you to Perpetua 'show us your squonkers' is one of my favourite threads so don't want to tarnish it with my ramblings Well here's the thing jonathan303, I shall say this with as much politeness and respect as I can muster . . . . we create a new Board at Member's request, as we do like everyone to feel that this forum is theirs, not ours - so are only too happy to accommodate where we can. No sooner is the ink dry on this new section then up pops a link for a Facebook group, which no prior permission has been sought to post. How do you think you might feel if the situation was reversed? Similar links incidentally we've refused in the past. Facebook groups might be the way forward for some, but we are not a satellite of the site and what you and others need to bear in mind is that the more Members or Vendors who are directed toward it, then the less input, new content and members forums will attract. It really is quite discouraging given the free time all of us ( past and present ) have devoted to making AAE-C what it is.

Oh well said that lady i did / do find it strange that in the last week two members have used this site to promote their own sites. Im all for live and let live and we should all be helpful to one and another but i feel people should do there own promotion and build on word of mouth and let there product stand for itself. Not use somebody else's hard work as a shortcut. Ok maybe not worded that as well as i would have liked but you get my drift.

Im cool with people advertising their stuff/sites on here ASLONG as the forum has not been forgotten. Jonathan has made it clear that we have the oppurtunity to order via here etc and has offered first dibs on his mods so kudos to him for that

Well, I didn't quite expect this when I logged on today, or think that I would have caused such issue, so my apologies for that. It was not my intention at all, but this all seems a bit contrary to some of my earlier sentiments made regarding community spirit. Strange how things can turn? In regards to the Facebook group, I thought it would be nice to have a few familiar names/faces a part of the group. I have never used this forum as a platform for my own gain, only to be on my merry way after. I have made a point of always posting on the forum and to always be sure the forum was prioritised. This all seems slightly blown out of proportion. I've clearly misjudged the concept of a shared community, as far as wanting to make us feel this forum is ours...clearly you need to remind us that it is not. The post I made was in a relevant thread which mentioned one of the mods that I produce. It was an off the cuff invitation that I made directed at the few members who have been following my progress that may have wanted to be a part of that group. Not to 'steal them away' as I don't think for a second that would happen, or impact in any way on the input or content of this forum. For the record I don't care for profit, which is a good thing because thus far I have made none, so any ideas that I'm rubbing my hands together at the thought of all the money I'll be making is far from the truth. I do this simply because I enjoy making mods, and making them available to whoever wants one. Any money I do make goes straight back in to making more mods available. I've spent far far more than I have made and Its nothing more than a hobby and a passion I do in my free time, which I like to share with other like minded people. In regards to the post above, believe me I have done plenty of my own hard work to get things to this point, more than most would be bothered to do, but I won't go in to the details as I don't expect anyone to be interested in my own personal struggles. I appreciate this thread being created, but did not ask for it and honestly don't need to piggy back off the forum as a 'short cut' for publicity. The work I have done, I've done 100% for myself. The post you see at the top of this thread was actually made in a completely different thread. So that has been taken out of context. Again, the initial comment was nothing more than a quick, low key invitation which was directed at couple of members who have been supportive of the project. I've made it clear that anyone who can't or doesn't want to join the FB group, does not need to. I will always be an active member of this forum, involving all and continuing to post, comment, share thoughts and opinions (not just related to my own interests, but in all threads.) Is that not what you were talking about Perpetua? Surely members such as myself are the very ones who are providing the input and new content? I did have plans for exclusive giveaways, and more, to try and give back to the forum. Personally I feel quite let down by how I have been misrepresented by some of responses above. thebishman thank you for your comment. Sorry for the long post, but I just had to make a few things clear from my side. Again....I apologise.

Im complimenting you as i feel the way you have gone about this has been commendable. I think the mods have an obligation to keep the interests of the forum at heart...where its warrented. This is the best ecig forum on the net so they want to keep it that way. Keep up the good work jonathan and the mods. Your both doing a great job

I for one do not doubt that this venture has cost you a lot of time ,money and research not once have i said you are making money. But by advertising your work here it IS free publicity however you look at it, it is most defiantly not a personal dig at you or your work as i DO think your product is very good looking and i do think it has a place in the market, i do also hope it sells well and in time you will hopefully make some cash back. As said above if your paying to advertise on a site then fair play push push push and get the name and product out there ASAP hard and fast. I know this site / forum is different to your own F.B group but i honestly think you would be a bit put out if somebody came on there and started to promote that they had there own product and would your members like to go over to their site and join up. These are just my personal views on this matter and not the views of the site management as i have no say or know what they may do or think about this.

Hi everyone, I'd just like to say I've been a member of this forum for quite some time. No where near as long as most of you, but since I stopped smoking and started vaping around three + years ago, and certainly long before I started Minimal-Mods and making squonkers. If anyone is on Facebook It would be really good to have a few members of this forum on board to be a part of the Minimal-Mods group. It's still in it's early stages and a work in progress, but I'd like it to be a place, not just for selling mods, but for anyone who's into squonking or vaping in general.Just to remind you of your post hi-jacking another member's thread . . . . Well, I didn't quite expect this when I logged on today, or think that I would have caused such issue, so my apologies for that. It was not my intention at all, but this all seems a bit contrary to some of my earlier sentiments made regarding community spirit. Strange how things can turn? This all seems slightly blown out of proportion. I've clearly misjudged the concept of a shared community, as far as wanting to make us feel this forum is ours...clearly you need to remind us that it is not. These comments I take considerable offence to and beneath me to make any further response. I will always be an active member of this forum, involving all and continuing to post, comment, share thoughts and opinions (not just related to my own interests, but in all threads.) Is that not what you were talking about Perpetua ? Surely members such as myself are the very ones who are providing the input and new content? Good, I hope you keep to that jonathan303 . . . . and to be clear linking to other places has never been an issue, I do it myself. I don't however actively ' tout ' for new forum members.

Okey dokey, I know I'm going to get slaughtered for this & huge apologies to Perpetua I completely agree with Perpetua - all of this forum's staff (past & present) have given up so much of their time to keep the forum going & as safe & friendly as possible. I also feel the same as Perpetua - it can be gut wrenching to see folks moving on to other forums/facebook groups etc. However, I set up this forum, coming up to 7 & a half years ago, to spread the word about how e-cigs can help smokers quit - so much more easily than any other method. When I bought my first e-cig ( a pretty pathetic ciggie lookalike), over 8 & a half years ago, I just knew it could help me kick my 50+ day habit - & it did. Since then, I've wanted to shout from the rooftops about e-cigs. So IMHO, the more info/links about e-cigs/vaping the better. What I will add though is that I completely agree that in both recent instances, it would indeed have been better if both members concerned had PM'd a member of staff first.
