Well here we are, halfway through week one and no criticism so far. We have had 2 beef and 1 poultry dinners and they have been both substantial and tasty. Our order is in for weeks 2 & 3 and tonight I am doing a preliminary order for weeks 4 & 5. Every single meal over these 5 weeks will be a new to us meal. We may as well try something different each night, but being careful to avoid any meals containing alcohol. At this rate it will take us about 3 weeks to fill the dishwasher!!!!! Lol lobeydosser why not stock up on plastic cutlery too? Think how much time you'll save on the washing up 😀 Just because I'm nosy is there a big difference cost wise on what you would normally spend?

We have still to work this out lesley1It is a bit like comparing the cost of vaping to the cost of smoking. At first I couldn't understand why I was saving so much because I had changed to vaping, but it was because I wasn't going to the shop every day to buy fags. I would not just buy fags but other unnecessary things as well. When I stopped going to buy fags, I also stopped buying rubbish and therefore saved more I think these meals will be comparable to the vaping experience in that if we are not buying foods locally or Asda online, then we will not be tempted to buy rubbish or things that we simply fancy. Also we will be eating better proportioned and better balanced meals. I "do" our accounts on the third of each month and it will not be until the third of next month that I will be able to get a rough estimate of if there is any cost or saving in going for these meals. Even if the cost is more, there are other advantages, for us, that make these meals attractive.

Thanks thebishman Yes they are working, but they are also different to what we are used to. Don't get me wrong, they are tasty and all that, but different. The potatoes tend to be roasted or covered in sauces and the veggies I think are steamed rather than boiled, so I can see a time, in the future, where we sit down and enjoy a humungous plate of boiled potatoes with lashing of butter, or just a plain veggie meal without a gravy in sight!!!! Looking forward to tomorrow night's Sweet & Sour!!!

This is very true lobeydosser, I can't even walk in the vicinity of shops without buying something random. I 💕a supermarket doesn't matter which one. I really need to be accompanied lol

Hi lesley1 Life is a bit easier here in that we have a Co-op, a Butchers and a Chinese Tale-away and that's our whack, so most of our shopping is done online anyway. Yes pipeman01 They do look the same, but if I am being really lazy I will eat it straight from the microwave dish.

Tonight we had meal 5 of the first 7 we have ordered. Again an excellent meal that consisted off Beef Steak, Green Beans, Carrots, Roast Potatoes and Gravy. This was followed by Black Forest Gateau.
If I have anything against these meals it is that they put other frozen meals to shame. Because we still have some food in our freezer, we are using this up to make more room for the meals we have ordered and really, they taste blaa with the consistency of cardboard, by comparison.
My missus is picky when it comes to food, but she has not had a bad word to say about any of the meals we have had so far.

Hi Postmodern Smoking I don't think the delivery man's van is big enough to deliver that many meals!!!! And anyways, it is bad enough trying to find the room in our freezer for 14 X 2 lots of meals for ourselves. Do I throw out the spare 3 loaves of bread or the 8 litres of NicBase. Decisions, decisions?????

Ironically I brought my mother in law home from a 4 week stay in hospital, she has COPD and it was hard wrestling her from the oxygen (which she doesnt need as her oxygen levels are in the 90's) and hospital couldn't offer a 3x daily care staff visit, only two... so they suggested meals on wheels. At £5.95 a meal (which she'd have to pay) which I thought was obscenely pricey She wont really eat so it would be totally wasted, I spent the weekend there and now I've popped home as her cleaner will be coming in this afternoon for a few hours, and now I've found there's been a right cock up on her order of medical alarm and bed wedge (which would have made life easier) .....and I said I'd stay over till they were fitted/delivered. So now it'll be end of week and I cant stay there all week, I'll go MAD!

hahah, MY mother I could manage as she's made of sterner stuff! but ma in law needs to grow a pair I'm afraid. She says she's agoraphobic and claustrophobic.... I am reasonably patient with her and I try to be supportive by pushing her a little to face problems but really she just lives on her nerves and enjoys the attention and fussing. She is on anti-anxiety medication now but its not made a blind bit of difference I've finally got hold of the woman/nurse/occupational therapist and she's going to try and get alarm in this afternoon so I've just spoke on phone to mum in law and subtly worked things so she says for me not to come and stay tonight devious of me but sanity saving!!
