One of my favourite things about vaping is the journey.... From my first "pea shooter" vaping thing to my "bigger" VV/VW mods. From buying shop juice to DIY ......and now....breaking in to coil building I thoroughly enjoyed the London and SE vape meeting last night. A chance to spend a relaxing and fun evening with a group of very committed and knowledgeable vapers. A few of the guys last night very kindly gave their time to help me with coil building, wicking and wire. An absolute journey of discovery for me - I'm sure for those who were there the look on my face when I tried a non-stock coil must have been a picture The flavour was, and is, just on a different level. I think it's absolutely fabulous that vapers are willing to share their knowledge and help us all move along on our own vaping journey

Vape meets are brilliant for "hands on" subjects ghostrider1971. Glad you enjoyed the experience. A vape meet is highly recommended to all vapers, if there is one anywhere near you, it's well worth the effort to go along. I went to Vapefest last year hoping that VapingBad would get me set up with TC but unfortunately (or fortunately, which ever way you view it) Malt whisky got in the way. Ah well, there's always this year.

Ahhh coiling is the easy bit ghostrider1971, it's the wicking you will need to sacrifice virgins for and pray to the sun gods in order to master, in my experience anyway. It's a fun journey though and almost essential I'd say for anyone vaping NET's as you normally need to dry-burn the coil and rewick every 3-6ml or so. According to my diary I am closing in on 1000 rebuilds and/or rewicks and I am still experimenting with wicking to get the best results. I am not going to offer much advice as you are clearly in good hands, but I'll just say that with wicking "less is often more", and grab yourself a coil master (a simple and genius tool that will have you making coils like a pro from the start). If you like tinkering mate, nothing beats vaping your favourite DIY juice in your favourite tank that you just coiled and wicked yourself. Have fun and enjoy the journey :-)

Cannot improve on the advice above and @hondo says it all " it's the wicking you will need to sacrifice virgins for and pray to the sun gods in order to master,". However I have found that the Scottish don't just have haggis, oil, whiskey, deep fried mars bars, Nicola Sturgeon and the Edinburgh festival. I agree with you about the flavour part ghostrider1971. My old friend hates it that mine always tastes better. He gets so many tanks that take premades to try and get my flavours but it never works. Unfortunately he won't turn to building as he loses his patience and can't deal with the fiddling. To me it's very satisfying and every time I coil and wick I'm happy(after a lot of practice) . I put 50ml of any juice through my tanks and am using 5 at a time in rotation. I'm usually wicking them once a week so I'm on about 250ml pw

And it's all so much easier when there is a kind and friendly somebody guiding you thro that first time too, isn't it? You are no longer chained to available replacement coils .... Congrats to you.

I'm in inveterate tinkerer, and love the business of coiling and wicking, trying to improve on the last one, etc. I'm also a stingey bugger, and can't stomach the thought of buying a stock coil at a fiver a week, when I can knock up a couple of coils which will last literally weeks, if not months, for a few pence. With the plethora of pre-made Clapton coils etc. around on the market at the moment, you are spoilt for choice, and with the experience on this forum, you will be saving money hand over fist, even if it gets a bit frustrating at times

chykensa - I must confess another box of pre-made coils slipped in to my FT basket yesterday I must also confess I have no idea what a "triple spaced alien tank track twisted clapton" (or whatever it was....) is, but it sounds pretty impressive

I love the fasttech pre makes. Tigers, aliens, fused claptons. Can't go wrong and there's no faff on and they're cheap. Suppose there's something to be said for crafting your own but it'd take me 360 foot of wire to get one done right
