Afternoon all, Happy Easter I dug out the TFV-8 and have been using it at 80w on an RX2/3 with "brown" LG batteries. I reckon every 4 or 5 puffs I am losing 2% of battery....as a non-high watts vapour this seems really high/fast to me - is it about right? My batteries, of any make, shape or form, only seem to reach 90% when "fully charged" on my Nitecore Any advice/comments, much appreciated as always

Hmm really not sure as i dont normally vape that high but that does seem to be draining a bit quick mate Hopefully some of the higher w vapers will be along soon to help you.

@broadblaster - It's about 40-60w above my usual I'm only using it to smash through the c**p juice I bought at the festival last week rather than pouring it away

At 80 watts thats probably about right but will also depend on what resistance your vaping at 80watts. If you think your charger is sus might be worth checking them when charged with a volt meter.

phtumshk - The coil is a 0.15ohm....stock coil for TFV-8 but MUCH lower than I would usually use.... Volts at 83w are reading at 3.64

Volts at 83w are reading at 3.64 Steam engine battery drain reckons about 80, 5 second toots at those settings. That is on a single battery tho, not sure how it would go with a couple in series but would figure as the overall mahs would stay the same in series it would be pretty much the same result. Again pressuming as I dont know the RX is a series mod.

I think there's a few things to consider like said above but the mod resistance and chip efficiency plays a large part me thinks. After talking to minime it seems my rolo DNA200 version lasts like 3 times longer than the cheaper RX version. I know that sounds a bit much but........

Yes the RX is rubbish with battery life.

I can do 100w constantly on a 0.4 dual coil clapton for 8 or 9 hours with my DNA's. VapingBad would be a good one to ask about it but get your technical head ready

80 W: with 2 batteries you are working them closer to their limit than with 3 batteries, not at all dangerous with decent batteries (>= 20 A CDR like 25R, LG HE2 ,LG HE4, 30Q, LG HG2, VTC3, 4 & 5), but shorter life and less run time per cell than with 3. Personally with 2 batteries I would stick to 25R, LG HE2 ,LG HE4, VTC3, 4 & 5A as they will have lower voltage drop than the 3,000 mAh ones, so be less stressed, last longer (lifetime not runtime, though you will get to use more of their capacity percentage wise due to less voltage sag) and be better value IMO. It is OK to use 2, just no free lunch there is a trade off at 80 W and that can make sense for many people they loose weight at the cost of runtime and battery life time, and it's probably not a very big difference so choose what fits your wallet and lifestyle.
