Virtual Reality headsets

Anyone got one for their phones/tablets?? What are they like? Gimmick or worth owning one?

Can you watch youtube etc through them?

Tried with note 4 and S7 and tbh I'd say it's in it's infancy using a mobile device. Very grainy and the fones overheated fairly quickly.
Might be better on newer fones though. I'd definitely go try before buy

You can watch Ytube on it. I have an S7 and like to watch 3d films on it, it does look grainy but I seem to forget about that after a few minutes. Guardians of the galaxy 3d looks fantastic.

I've got a Samsung VR which I use with my Samsung S6 Edge and watched a few 3D movies on it, Avatar was very good, the picture is a little bit grainy but like ant said you forget about it after a while.
If you do decide to opt for the Samsung VR I would also suggest getting a compatible game controller as well, which will enable more features while in cinema mod.

Also the 3D roller coasters movies are worth getting as well.

But what about the overheating I've seen with three different fones as I forgot to mention the note7. Man I must have been crazy trying that one

Basically thebishman the fone tells you to shut down while it cools down and I've seen this happen quite a few times.It happens after about 20 minutes of use. You can borrow mine and try if you want to pay postage?

As ibalders said about the controller, I have 5-6 xbox controllers and 2 ps3 ones but ended up getting a steelseries stratus xl (£50) and it made such a big difference. I never used to have overheating problems until Samsung had the issue with the S7 Note, from what I read they reduced heat limitations due to caution but I think/hope that will be resolved at some point soon. Thing I like about it is the cinema experience, it really feels like you are sitting in the cinema watching a film without some idiot sitting next to me eating popcorn with their mouth open.

It's only about £50 for the gear vr now and I honestly think its well worth, from a poor persons perspective.

i have kodi on my phone and the 3d films look ruddy good in 1080p
you can configure any bluetooth controller to work in kodi
if you putting 3d films on yer phone to watch they need to be at least 5 gig in size or they will look pixelated at times
my s6 edge pluss thing has never overheated
if you can get kodi working on yer phone and love films then they are good

unfortunately if you have an older phone like the note 3 the screen rez isn't really good nuff to give a nice pic

a ver of kodi for vr goggles ,it lets you watch the norm 2d content in fake 3d mode
its in chinese lange but just change it in settings

I do find it quite strange that 3 higher spec fones overheat and the S6 does not. Fair play though decoy.
Now kodi is something I should learn more about me thinks. Atm I have it and only use it to play downloads that won't play with other apps.Think I'm going to learn it properly
