Aust Govt conflicting advices - and an Inquiry announced

The Australian Government re-affirms the No-Nic E-Cig policy will remain whilst, almost concurrently, announces a Federal Parliamentary Enquiry into E-Cigs.

My uneducated comment:
State Health departments (and many organisations like our local Cancer Council) are ruling heavily against E-cigs. The TGA has ruled against making Vaping Nic legal. Perhaps now, at least some in Federal Parliament are seeing the disconnect between local "anti vaping" views and world wide real results/science/approaches. Whatever, many here are hoping this might signal an about turn in the local attitudes toward Vaping in Australia.   *fingers crossed*

This is our greatest opportunity yet to have our say!

I urge ALL Aussie vapers to make a submission! Submissions need not be sophisticated and sciencey, there will be plenty of submissions made by people qualified at presenting all the sciency facts.

The government has left the door open in the terms of reference for us to tell or story. The fifth term of reference;

5. Any other related matter.

Best of luck to all our Aussie mates in this battle. Might be worth mentioning an affect on tourism. e.g. I know a Brit vaper who visits both NZ and Australia. for holidays. She has had no probs vaping in Aus so far but I was talking to her this morning and she is worried about all this nonsense and is likely to leave it off her holiday route in future. Particularly with NZ being more welcoming to vapers.

A little follow up to this Federal Committee investigation.

Submissions to this Committee investigation have now closed. Many individuals and groups have made submissions. Many "vaping big names" the world over have made submissions. The Government Committee is current processing and posting the submissions up to this site: here . Note - this is not yet all submissions (or they've lost mine).

There is a lot of very interesting reading there if you are so inclined. Many individual submissions contain personal stories that'd likely be very familiar to most of you.

In time, the Government Committee will hear various verbal submissions from relevant parties (I think they have started this part) and will process the information contained in the written submissions. They'll then form a set of recommendations for our Parliament.

It certainly ain't over yet for the argument about Vaping in Australia.
