I use Kayfuns, KFL and Mini V3 mainly - I have been using mechs, istick Picos and IPV D2's and have recently got an Hcigar VT75 Nano and the vape seems so much better. It seems smoother and flavoursome but my common sense tells me all the mod does is to provide the power to fire the attie and there is no reason why the DNA75 should be any different. I vape in power mode, 1.0 - 1.4 ohm at 12 to 16 watts. Does this chip give a better vape or is it my imagination?

It gives a good accurate stable vape so yes you will probably notice a difference compared to other mods

Yeah, it does seem to defy common sense, doesn't it? A long time ago I was told, when first I started with Vamo's, that I'd got tired of the "issues" with the power delivery and I should "upgrade" to some sort of mech. The story given was along the lines that a mech delivers "straight and direct" battery power, whilst my Vamo (and by extension - all regulated mods) used "regulated" power, which was described for the Vamo at that time as an "on-off-on-off" sort of thing. Apparently, that affected my vape quality negatively somehow. I shrugged then and to this day I've never been any the wiser for it and continue to be happy with my regulated mods. However, I see you mention mechs.... which of course rules out that general theory affecting how your atty vapes on that particular mod. So I wonder if it might simply be that the "registration" is out? That is, the HCigar is delivering more (or less) than stated power? Meaning if you have it set for, say, 20 watts - the same as your other mods, and it really is delivering somewhat more.... which seems to make it taste different/better than when that atty is on one of your other mods? Else ... *shrug* I've no idea except to suggest if it tastes better, just accept and enjoy it.

The DNA board in the VT75 is very accurate, and unlikely to be delivering more, or less power than it says on the tin. It is far more likely that the iSticks and IPVs of this world are less accurate.
It's not the accuracy of the power delivery that makes the difference. If this was the case, you'd just adjust your iStick up or down to suit.
What does make the difference is the quality of the regulation. The DNA outputs a very flat signal which gives a great vape!
Theoretically a mech should have the flatest output signal, however mod resistance and battery sag play a big part, and so you never really know what your output is.
The Vamo is the polar opposite of the DNA. It's output is PWM, more like a saw tooth than a flat signal. It alternates between a high and low output very quickly which ends up giving an average of your set wattage. This is what give the "rattlesnake" sound.

wow, this is interesting...
can I ask a related question... what's the difference between a DNA75 and a DNA 250... just the maximum output power?

There are a few differences, but the maximum power output is the main one.
The DNA75 can run on a single 18650 - 75w - 6V - 1amp charger
The DNA75C can run on a single 18650 - 75w - 9V - 1amp charger
The DNA250 requires a 3S Lipo or 3 18650s - 250w - 2amp charger

the d2 dont step down ie if you put a 0.5 ohm coil it will give it about 30 watts no matter what you set it at below that so that might make a noticeable diff if your using it in tc then the diff is night and day with most mods as the dna will throttle back the power to keep the temp you want and most mods just hit the temp and cut the power so its more temp limiting than temp control i can understand why peps say tc is crap when they haven't tried it on a dna, i know i did ,but now i got one its nearly always used in tc with 317L

They will be quite different to mechs as the power continues to drop during the puff with mechs, not a bad thing. And with ss in power mode dnas will have a level power output where mech , vv and a lot of vw mods that work out power from res the power will drop because ss res increase with temp. And imo they are the gold standard for temp control.

goneforagasper - Sadly, I can't offer any technical reasons, but my one and only DNA, a lavabox, gives me my best vape. Just makes things smooth and consistent for me. Maybe it's because the vape quality is repetitive? Just gutted I didn't buy more of them in the flash sale

For a consistent vape, you really can't beat a DNA device. Got to agree with ghostrider1971, consistency and smoothness make it more enjoyable. Having said that, I've a Minikin V2 which is pretty much consistent now I've updated it to negate the jumping ohms syndrome. The rest for me, are pretty much up and down, some more so than others. Probably the worst I have for inconsistency is a Smok Osub, some days you just never know what you're going to get with that one.

Thanks for all your constructive replies, however what I wanted to hear was that it was my imagination so I wouldn't have to buy another. You have confirmed my worst fears that it is a better vape so I will now be forced to buy another.
Now where's my credit card..................
