Phiniac tanks are gorgeous - www.phiniac.com/but expensive... so here is what I've just thought of (care of ecf chat) to make one at home Need *glass vials/bottles (right size...I reckon about 12mm not sure) (£10 max) *glass cutting stuff (string and nail varnish remover and lighter/matches) * tape measure *glass painting kit/glass paints (£6) Method cut glass as per method - - could be fiddly.... (yet to try) sand down.... check grommet size (halfords) and stuff... Paint with glass paints watch this space Phiniac tank - £30 this should be about £20 Jane

What a great idea!!
I am not too sure you can cut pyrex by that method because pyrex is known for it's heat resistant properties..No harn in trying though but I would use a small piece of pyrex to try like a test tube..I think a diamond saw would work.
I think tanks are more 20-22mm diamater..

How would you do the tube ends? Have you got a way to reproduce the bungs, Is that where you would use the Halfords grommets? I think that they might be a bit flimsy to be a cap end and would flex so much that the juice would come out

Just thought it would take some time and effort out of it for you .. If you get really into it then making and cutting your own glass may be an option

Yeah fair point....even with the phials...what glass cutter would you recommend for domestic extremist's method? Surely string or something as a guide line then a basic handheld glass cutter?

I'm curious to see where you get to with this. Could be a nice little side business for a skilled artist. The tubes I use for my Stardust frankentanks are 36mm by 15mm od and 13mm id (hint, hint ).
