I've used every ss from the wire company and lots of gauges for testing in tc on my rolos. The best round wire I fo was the 0.4mm 317 but even that would not stay stable. I'm going to try a couple with my new DNA250 soon though as it's supposed to be better at it. Someone said that 304 would be best for TC as it lacks the molybdenum that the others have, therefore leaving more of the metal that reacts to the tcr.On trying this theory I did not find this and still found the 0.4 317 best. I used it for a good while but now and then the mod would still become unstable. I tried so hard for so long and in the end went back to kanthal after trying all sorts of nickel, nife and others. I'm going to give the 250 a little chance but it won't get all that effort I've put in before. If it works I think it will be awesome for my new drones

Thanks for this richard. That was a good read. Not sure about trying stainless. Anyone wonder if what the metals give off when heated is for us? Wonder what metal is the best in terms of health benefits??

Wonder what metal is the best in terms of health benefits?? SS seems to be fine if not dry burned to hot. A very gentle glow is OK. Kanthal you can dry burn the most from what I've seen. Nickel I wouldn't try and glow or nife really. Never used titanium. The theory is none of them produce toxins harmful enough to hurt us as long as you don't heat too high and cause dangerous gases and poisonous oxides

I usually use SS 316L or Kanthal However, not one to scoff at free delivery I decided to grabbed some SS 317L and 340 to give them a go
I'm not expecting much difference with the 317L but will be interested how the 340 will differ. Anyone have any experience of this?

Anyone have any experience of this? I've used them all in the past for TC and I found 317L to be the most stable on a DNA200. I would expect 304 to degrade quicker as it's more susceptible to corrode. I've read in the past people reporting this is the case for 304. I've just ordered some of their 316L fused clapton to try as the DNA250 board seems to be excellent in TC using SS
