Hi again
new question starting coil building when kit gets here, what is sub ohm I'm thinking anything lower than an ohm or most definitely not worthy of wiping an Ohm's boots and Non sub Ohm must be an Ohm and above ie 1.1 etc
I most definitely will stand to be corrected as I don't have a Danny lol TIA Bob

Basically you are right. Before the days of regulated mods it was the only real way to increase power. Nowadays it's less relevant imho with the availability of regulated power. I love my serpent mini with a 1.1 coil just as much as my fused clapton sub ohm coils in other tasks. A lot depends on the juice for me.. Some are better on different set ups.. E.g. Manabush is perfect on above ohm coils.. Taste is subjective.. Experiment.

You are pretty much correct, Sub ohm used to be the buzz word for vaping some crazy shit .4 - .5ohms when most peeps were vaping at around 1.8 - 2ohms. Now most beginner kits come with .5 - .7 ohm coils so dosent really mean owt these days but the term kinda stuck..

Thanks Richard is it better to have a above 1.0 Ohm for eg than a 0.5 ohm which would last longest on battery time also which is safest? All you ever hear about is sub Ohm or RDA's just need to understand? Confused from tooting?

Thanks Richard is it better to have a above 1.0 Ohm for eg than a 0.5 ohm personal preference .... which would last longest on battery time In an unregulated mod the higher the resistance the longer the battery duration, but the cooler the coil. In a regulated mod, it more depends on the power (Watts) that the mod is used at. .... also which is safest? In an unregulated mod the higher the resistance the less current (Amps) that flows through the battery, so in theory the safer it would be. In a regulated mod, safety is largely taken care of with the electronics (even if there is a short circuit i.e. nearly 0 ohms). For most people, and until you are more knowledgeable, careful (and brave ) ... I'd strongly recommend sticking to regulated mods. These days there is less need to go unregulated. All you ever hear about is sub Ohm or RDA's just need to understand? Sub-ohm = less than 1 ohm RDA = rebuildable dripping atomiser

Nonsense term IMO unless you are using an unregulated of fixed voltage device, but for vaping in general it meant something for a few months when tanks and drippers were evolving to handle more power and it classified an emerging class of topper and style of vaping. But the continued use to mean vaping at higher power levels is so out of date, misleading and a cause of confusion it's not funny. It still makes sense logically for unregulated devices because the resistance and voltage set the power, but not really for anything else. One person could vape a 0.5 ohm coil at a 100 W and another at 20 W, the coils, airflow and amount of vapour would be quite different.

Stick to what suits you best I say. Personally I've moved to a DNA250 and using a 0.2ohm ss coil at 40w. It's working so well and producing just as satisfying vape as a dual coil kanthal at 100w. It's all just a case of finding your happy place
