There is NO LOYALTY from insurers these days, they rely on people's complacency and just charge what they think they can get away with all generated by a computer. You have to check every year by going to comparison websites.
When you have found a much cheaper quote go back to your existing insurers and tell them to match it, quite often they will or get pretty close to it assuming they are quoting on the same basis and information you entered on the comparison website.
Don't go for the cheapest price, those polices tend to have little extras that end up costing you more if you need to make any amendments or changes to the policy. You really have to check the details by going to the potential insurers website to find out.
I work within the insurance industry (claim assessor) and insurers continue be a bunch of thieving b*****ds. You MUST read the small print and make sure the information you give them is correct and true when taking out a new policy.
READ new insurance documents and make sure everything is correct, if it isn't no matter how small the error...get it corrected.
Thus Endeth the lesson for today.

Yes they are legal thieves and yes it's disgusting. Every year if my premium goes up I go back to confused.com to look for a better deal. I usually use their app on my mobile as it's very easy to use once you have signed up.I aways think that there should be a government body constantly looking for companies ripping the public off and powers to step in. Obviously they'll never police like this as it might stop extra tax coming in. I get so sick of big companies taking the pish especially when it's something like insurance that many of us need as a necessity to live our lives. Well done Raffles for listening to your boys and doing something about it. It's always good to hear a rip off merchant losing out

Well done Raffles for getting it sorted. My Dad (78 this year) isn't the best on the computer but I showed him how to use the comparison sites a good while ago now and he can check his insurances every year, co-incidentally he has changed his insurance provider pretty much every year since using the sites To be fair though it doesn't only apply to an older generation, my daughter (19) didn't know to use them either and she is an internet addict, got her insurance over £1k cheaper this year by switching providers.
