Smok Alien 220 firmware

Hi folks! Just got my Alien 220 and the firmware is V1.2.1 I've been told to upgrade the firmware but (a) I'm not confident in doing it and (b) as I only vape in V/W mode is it really worth doing? I'm totally new to this firmware stuff. Any advice is very welcome.

Never owned an Alien mowjo. But I do have an Osub. I'm not a great fan of firmware upgrades on mods. If you read around the interweb you'll find that the upgrade has knackered a fair few mods. I did a firmware upgrade on my Osub to cure an unsteady ohms issue. IMO, if it is working then just go with it as it is, if a problem rears it's ugly head, then try an upgrade to solve the problem.

Thanks Striker! I have seen a lot of problems with the Alien update, usually from installing the wrong version, found lots of info on how to do it, but I'm a bit like you! If it ain't broke why fix it? Most of what I read about the updates relates to T/C as I only ever use V/W I wasn'f sure if it was worth doing..

Make sure you use the correct version if you do decide to do it. There's two versions of the mods board so check which one is suitable first. I like to update stuff but as you've said if it ain't broke why bother. Also tends to help if you keep the fire bar pressed in all the way though the process as they can be a bit iffy. It's a doddle though.

I have one of the early ones on the same FW as yours and have never bothered updating at all, i find Smoks updates a bit of a faff compared to others and just left it as is after folk were having problems as mentioned above.
