Postmodern Smoking I'll be doing my mixing tomorrow now that I have everything. I noticed that your calculator indicates 6.67 ml for Nic Shots and 5.93 for PG. As the syringes are marked in steps of 2 between each number, would it make much difference if I round those figures up? Let's say 6.6 for Nic Shots and 6 for PG? Two items which confuse me: as the target ratio is 70% PG and 30% VG, how come the calculator actually gives me more VG than PG? The other is in your calculator you have 7% for the Hangsen Ancient Essence. Looking at the bottle it states 0mg/ml. Should I enter 0% instead of 7%? Many thanks again. Rounding up should be fine, I'm sure that you won't notice the difference. re. PG/VG ratio ..... although the plain VG in the ingredients is more that plain PG.... your nicotine is also in PG which contributes to the overall PG in the PG/VG ratio. Assuming that your Hangsen Ancient Essence is a concentrate rather than a 0mg/ml nic e-liquid ????? , the 7% is the amount of concentrate that I found others commonly used. (The fact that it states 0mg/ml makes me suspect that it might not be a concentrate that you've got..... have you a link to the page where you got it to help confirm)
[ETA] Your link on the first post is for a concentrate.

Yes, it is the link in my first post. Thanks, I'll round them up using your calculations.

Note, for flavour concentrates the percentage (in the mixing calculator) is not nicotine strength, but rather the percentage of flavouring that you want in your finished e-liquid.

doctorjellybean - been following this post, admirably managed by Postmodern Smoking, and wondered how the mixing went? Once you've done it the first time, you will be surprised just how easy it is. I've been mixing my own juice for over 5 years, and still use syringes and measuring flasks for larger batches. Here#'s hoping you have the bug now, and you will start experimenting with other concentrates

chykensa - the first bottle went ok (I think), the 2nd went all over the place. I think my mistake was not using needles, just the syringe. Also I used a single syringe for all the ingredients. I've now ordered more syringes with matching needles and will use individual syringes for each ingredient. I just hope the needles aren't too narrow lol.

Congratulations on your first introduction to mixing doctorjellybean If just using syringes (without needles)... some find it easier to suck from a small glass (such as a shot glass) rather than direct from a bottle. Ideally (if using needles) you should should use the likes of a 14 gauge blunt needle. (The smaller the gauge number the bigger the needle bore). Pure VG can be difficult to suck up and can be made easier by either adding around 10-15% purified or distilled water to the bottle, and/or warming the bottle before use to make it less viscous/more runnier. [ETA] One eBay supplier of 14g blunt needles, and syringes : HERE* * Note, I haven't used this supplier myself.

To add to what has already been said, sometimes I remove the plunger from the syringe and pour the liquid (PG, VG, flavour) into the open top of the syringe - using the syringe as a simple measuring container. Depending on how thick the ingrediant is, I might replace the plunger to push the liquid from the syringe... BUT if you do this, make sure the "pointy end" is aimed toward your final container Good luck with your mixing.

doctorjellybean - don't bother using separate needles for different ingredients, just work with a bowl of hot water nearby, suck up a syringe-full of hot water, and enjoy squirting it around the sink! Do this a few times and everything will self-clean. I know it's not the clean-room solution, but the traces will not affect the final mix one bit! The green needles (14 gauge) are ideal for everything apart from cold VG. I always forget to get my VG out of the fridge for an hour before mixing, placing it in the sun or on a radiator, so end up having to use a measuring beaker instead - no biggie. Here are the needles on FT - www.fasttech.com/products/0/10023869/5171505-14g-38mm-plastic-pinhead-dispensing-refilling - 76p for 10! EDIT: and here's the beaker - slightly different to the ones I use, but again, £1.58 Measuring beaker2nd EDIT: the needles are all interchangeable if they have the same bases as the ones I linked to. I started off getting a mixed pack of needles, but have only ever used the 14G ones

TBH i dont use any syringes nowadays i just use these www.creamsupplies.co.uk/academy-glass-measuring-cylinder-100mli have a 100ml one for the vg / pg and a 10ml one for the concentrates I stand my bottle of vg in a sink full of hot water so it pours easy from the bottle straight into the measuring cylinder Yes you may get a little "stick" to the inside of the cylinder but not enough to worry about also dont matter if you get a little pg /vg mixed in it as it all go's in your mix at the end anyway. i only bother to wash it out when all my mixing is done. The 10 ml one is used for the concentrates which is easy to squirt from the concentrate bottles straight into it again if using multiple favours you dont need to clean out for ever flavour as they all go in the mix anyway. then wash it out with hot waster between mix's i think that makes sense
