Hi guys, I have my first pocket hand grenade mech squonker on its way from our friends in the East.... Could I please ask for your best advice tips for first time mech users? I would be grateful for anything - best types of wire, best builds, best batteries, how do you know when to change battery, do's and dont's etc I'm excited to try it when it arrives but also slightly fearful as I know these things need to be treated with great respect and looked after properly. I think I will either be trying the Dead Rabbit coming with it or a Wasp Nano. If, after my previous vaping escapades. best advice is "leave it in the box" or "sell it quickly", I promise not to be offended TIA

At the end of the day its no more dangerous than any other electrical house hold item as long as its not mis-used. But unlike the TV its less likely to mame passers by if you throw it out the top floor window of a hotel.
Know your ohms law, check your builds, use a quality battery and every time you press the button shout 'FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!'
.5 Ni80. 6 or 7 wraps at 3mm. Stainless is also good as it fast ramps well.

Never do ANYTHING without checking whether or not your battery can handle what is going to be asked of it www.steam-engine.org/Build your coil or coils to below the spec of your battery. Use simple round wire, exotic coils will take forever to get to temperature with a single battery unregulated mod. Know your battery safety and ohms law

Following this as I have recently bought a Pulse squonker and Pulse 24 RDA. I have some Ni80 .5 - could I dual coil this, 7 wraps 3mm ID comes out at .25ohm? I have 2 x 20700 batteries, one is an iJoy, the other a Fogstar (which I'm sure I have read is a re-wrap of the iJoy). I have 2 x 9 wrap 3mm ID Kanthal .5 coils in at the moment, and although the vapour is produced well, the vape lacks a kick to it - rather too smooth and mellow for me! Watching with interest! EDIT: Steam Engine link

EDIT: Steam Engine linkI run those I-joys in the pulse, are they the 30a or the 40a? Both are sensible batteries You'll find that you can coil to .15 and get a very decent vape but be mindful that you're pulling 28amps at 4.2v for the first few puffs so don't do this with old batteries.

Thanks blakey, both batteries are brand new (<10 partial discharges), and the iJoy is 40A, I presume the Fogstar is similar. I will build to .2ohm to allow a bit of headroom, and report back!

Is there a good video anyone can recommend to explain Ohms law, please?
Looking on Steam Engine I see you can change the 4 variables....but.....??
Most of my batteries are Samsung 25r - will they be any good to use?
I have some ni80 wire. Certainly won't be looking to build anything clever - few wraps and single coil will be enough for me....

With a genuine samsung 25r if you coil to .21ohms you'll be taking power from the battery at a rate of 20amps at 4.2v which is within spec and a very good place to start for direct lung vaping just don't go any lower in ohms with those batteries If you're vaping mouth to lung then you'll be vaping at a much higher ohms (.5ohms and upwards) and will hardly tax the battery at all Edit - to add to this, you need to look at the battery drain option from the menu at the top of the screen at steam engine

FWIW, I get better results with a single coil rda for squonking. Got a Dead Rabbit last week and it really is very, very good but dual coils just kills the battery in no time. As has already been said, check your coil, make sure you've appropriate batteries and enjoy the experience

Ah, that's better! blakey, coiled as above and a much more flavoursome and biting vape, even with 1mg juice A happy bunny here now, next project is to incite some response from my OH in the living room
