He will love turkey if you wont feed him Brussel sprouts I still think your missing out on the family fun by not feeding him Brussel sprouts How to get the inlaws to leave early And you also have the "blame the dog" excuse, if needed

Does anyone here feed or have fed their dogs raw food? I don't . . . . . but I've no doubt my girly would happily ' inhale ' anything put in her bowl having been a stray! ( Although she never ever takes anything that isn't offered to her, even if any food accidentally gets dropped on the floor. ) Interestingly all the Frenchie owners I meet over the Common, think there's 4 now, they all without exception feed their dogs raw food - so it appears to be a common recommendation from breeders. All are also thriving very nicely on their diets.

We switched my girlfriends pug onto raw a while ago now. Not as convenient for us as kibble but he loves it. Then again he will literally eat anything that is even remotely edible, he's an eating machine lol. We get the frozen complete raw meals from a local pet shop. The owners son in law has a business making it. You just need to thaw it out and portion it up by weight as needed. Not that much dearer than the kibble in the long run. Lots of energy but seems calmer at the same time than when on dry food if that makes sense, and his coats never been shinier. You need to remember though, its raw meat so wash your hands.

We feed our husky on the B.A.R.F diet and he thrived on it. The way i see it in the wild dogs don't pop in to tesco's to pick up their dried or tinned food and they seem ok on it. Would you want to eat dried food and water every day (ok i know its not all the same but you get my drift )

I'd doubt it Neil . . . . infact I almost asked you earlier if you were feeding Frank a raw diet because of the other Frenchie's I meet! As the other gents have said it can also be beneficial for other breeds of dog helping with food intolerances, behavioural issues and skin problems. Although I feed Pand kibble, she always has a meat ' topper ' of some description - I wouldn't want to eat the same dry food every day of my life, why should dogs be any different. I also make her ( and most of the dogs over the Common ) Liver Jerky treats . . . . . they all absolutely love it, even the fussy eaters. Mostly other dog owners don't know my name, so I've been dubbed the Liver Lady. It's inexpensive, easy to make, virtually fat/salt free and full of good stuff, unlike many ready made dog treats . . . . . I microwave half a kilo of liver, wait for it to cool and cut it into small pieces. Then I bake it off for about 24minutes - until it's almost desiccated. ( Pand also has the resulting juices over her food which she absolutely adores! ) There are some weeks I can go through a kilo of liver, such is it's popularity.

I've fed raw for the last 10 years and my current pup, Little Joe, was weaned onto raw by the breeder. He's a Pug/JRT.
He's had the occasional meal of kibble and canned food and will eat them, but he loves his raw meat and bones. I try and give him a couple of big (relatively speaking) lumps of meat if I can because that gives him a chance to rip and chew like he would if he were a wild thing. Hearts work well, as does breast of lamb, and he loves his raw chicken carcasses, wings, pork ribs and lamb bones as well as offal.
Lovely clean teeth and little firm turds..
Couple of good FB sites if you want links. Have I missed what you're calling him?

Frank has got a bit of a funny tummy at mo hence why im interested. I wpnder if it was due to poor raw meat or whetger its the typical settling in type issues. He is proper happy in himself and running around like a nut case etc. Just his poo's are really hit n miss! One firm next sloppy etc

I have a pooch with a delicate stomach, the vets round here all recommend using something I would have put at the bottom of the pile for choice Chappie so I gave it a shot and she is much happier I think it is because the content is bulked using rice and it has less additives, funnily enough I found quite a few others who walk their dogs in the park do the same. Now your little fella might not need to do that and it could be part of his settling in as it was a big change for him and as he settles his system is beginning to relax so he may turn around within a few days.

Just like Humans, different breeds of animals are susceptible to food additives,
We had a lot of trouble with Eye Staining with our first Bichon. That Rust Coloured stain that white or pale coloured pets get that comes from the corner of the eyes and runs down their cheeks leaving a brown, unsightly mark. We tried everything to remove it, including food additives from the USA that are banned here in the UK.
It wasn't until our second Bichon arrived and he came with some dog food, recommended by his Breeder, that we found out the cause and the answer to the Rust Staining. This is caused by a reaction between Beef and Tears and the only way to avoid Tear Staining is to cut out all Beef from your pet's food.
Fortunately there is such of Pet Food and it is called James Wellbeloved.
Like I say, our second Bichon came with some of this food and having been kept on this, he has never suffered from Tear Staining. Within 3 weeks of changing our first Bichon onto James Wellbeloved foods, there was a marked improvement in his facial colour and within 6 weeks all trace of the staining had disappeared.
Sometimes you have to search hard for the answers to our pet's problems and sometimes the answers come from the most unlikely places, so keep an open from all sources. Watch what is going in one end and what is coming out the other end and if "Happiness" is the bit in-between, then all is well!!!!!

Well put lobeydosser We are going to keep him on a mixed raw diet till new year. See if is tummy has settled by then. If not then its time to think. As said, his poo's arent always messy so its not a major concern. Just would like them firm all the time lol
