I voted no - but am eager to learn for me it's the tank, as long as the mod is strong enough

As you say it is mainly the tank/RDA/RDTA - but choosing which of those will affect your choice of Mod, so yes the mod does matter

Yes it matters. Not all mechs are created equal. There is a definite difference to the vape between a mech and semi mech. There is a definite difference to the vape from a mech compared to a VW mod. There is a definite difference between TC and VW. Even with regulated devices in VW there are features which make the vape difference such as preheat or power curves.

Yep, it matters. For all sorts of reasons. Aside from having the ability to drive your atty your way (Watts, Temp Control or whatever) - and Get Off My Cloud above rightly offered reasons how different mods will affect your atties performance - there are other reasons too. Whilst the following may not affect the vape output from your atty, they still matter: * Appearance - design/style/colour etc. Some like style and colour matching bits.... * Shape and size - does it sit well in your little or large hands? Does it have sharp corners that annoy? * Dimension - does your atty fit the mod without overhang for example. In the case of the early Pico's, bigger atties will not fit next to the raised battery cover (least ways, not without some messing around) * Battery capacity - 18350, 18650, single dual or whatever ... which will limit total power outputs and run time between charging. * Battery setups - built in vs removable (and to a lesser degree parallel vs series wiring of dual batteries) - which may affect if you need a separate charger or can recharge from USB. * Perceived "quality" - affecting reliability, robustness, durability and price.

Don't forget the chip has an important role to play in regulated mods. I've done the "shineyitis" and over the past few months will only buy mods with a DNA chip in them. It seems so much better than the chips in other mods.

wow - learned I lot - I fully understand - size - shape and colour - my main thought was about the vape - so what's your favourite mod then ?

For me the mod and battery need careful consideration to get the best out of whatever you decide will be going on it. On the battery front, I tend to stick with Samsung, either 30Q or 25r as both are safe enough at my preferred ohms. Having said that, I've just purchased 2 x Sony VTC5a's to try as they seem to be getting a good name. As always, my choices are made with safety in mind.

I voted 'No' As the poll asks does the 'Mod' matter though the thread title hints on the battery as well. I would say the battery matters more than the mod in a lot of situations, though in the case of mechs the mod does matter. These days most of the mods hitting the market are good enough at 'Watts' mode that you'll get far more difference in the tank/dripper that you use. If you are talking about temperature control though then the mod could make a big difference.

I recon it depends on how you vape tbh.... yes, I've noticed a slight difference between mods at my vaping point (MTL, all protank/aerotanks with afc bases, between 7-9 watts depending on how bedded-in the coil is), but not enough for it to make a difference overall to my vape. Note - unless it's a v2 Vamo....they still hit like stink over newer mods However, if sub-ohm, DL vaping, I can see how it would make a bigger, more noticeable difference. So I didn't vote in the poll
