Evening all, Having happily chugged away for 2 weeks non-stop on the marvellous Burley, I thought it was time to mix it up and try another BCL NET. Mixed up my Desert Ship @ 10% on 14/1/18, so this one, by my standards, has had a decent steep Usual 70 VG and 4mg nic. Usual Cleito 0.4 at 32.5w. This time on the still excellent Lavabox. It's actually a good one to compare to Burley. Burley is the Motorhead of NET's - loud, proud, in yer face, a more raw and powerful tasting tobacco with nothing added (all in a good way!) whereas the immediate reaction to DS is that this is a trip to the leisure lounge with Frank and Dean Martin. Light, golden brown liquid. A medium Turkish tobacco. Ultra smooth and a nice nutty edge on the end. Mellow, flavourful and a very easy vape. Undeniably a little sweetness but not the mushy goo of an Old Captain. More of a compliment to the slight dryness on the exhale. I must confess I had a cheeky tank of this a week after mixing and it was good enough for me to quickly grab a bigger 30ml concentrate immediately. After a decent steep, it is absolutely lush. As part of my continuing hedonistic life, tonight I have an episode of Taggert from 1985 on DVD, a steaming mug of Douwe Egberts coffee and a full tank of Desert Ship. For a chilly winter Monday night, life is pretty damm good

yourgurnard - You read my mind, Sir I actually filled up a tank of Sultan tonight and have them together.... For me, Sultan is much sweeter. I know Sultan is a big favourite for many on here but I am finding the sweetness (even after a good steep 10-1-18) a little strong. I like them both and would say whilst Sultan is "meatier" my preference is for DS at the moment..... I would really like to do a review of Sultan at some point but I think others would be much more qualified to do so - also I am worried I would start with "It's a variant of Captain Jack and Old Captain....same generic, oversweet" etc

I bet that it's prob. t'other way round...ie. the Sultan (Oriental or Semi-Oriental) is the base 'baccy & the various captains are Sultan plus 'tweaks'. Again, I want a mole inside BCL so I can find out how many diff. 'bases' They use; buy them & avoid t'others! More 'single varietals', eg. Red Virginia, Burley, Kentucky....Burley...Latakia would be great! Anyway, an order's going in soon as I mixed My last Holborg/Holborn on Monday........& I want some Burley!!!
