I will hold my hands up to beeing new to vaping, and though I have picked up a hell of a lot in a short time on this forum, I know I have a lot still to learn. I have been investigating the different types of wick that are used throughout the vaping world, from oxidised steel mesh to double long fibreglass wicks. I have seen a lot of people rave on about the stardust and how amazing it is. Though I do not doubt it in the slightest, there is something that I do not understand and that is the wicking part of it.
From pictures that I have seen the wick only sticks out a small amount from the center post where the atomizer is housed. If this is the case then how does the wick stay wet when the juice level is low? I can get that when putting it to your lips you would tilt the whole unit and make the juice run up the tube towards the wick, but is that it, is that all it does to keep the wick wet?
Please inform me of something I am missing

Batty, the v1 stardusts (short wick) do indeed have to be tilted/swirled to keep the wicks wet

That's pretty much it, unless the juice level is really low, in which case you have to tip it right up or refill.

would it not then be better to have a longer wick like the ones in the clearomizers?

That's why they released the v2 with long wicks

Ah, ok, I have only seen pics of the V1's then. Next question about them. They look like they are designed to marry up with the eGo as the primary device. Are there auto eGo's out there? what I cant understand is that the air is taken from the battery connection up through the tank to the atomizer and then up to the drip tip. This is basically making a hole for the juice to get to the battery. WHY? Sorry I got fustrated then, that should of been, why? surly there is a better solution out ther that does not involve having the juice leak out over the battery and Ducking it up? Have seen the V2 now

What you say makes perfect sense batty, and yet they don't leak at all. You can store them horizantally onve filled without a drop of juice escaping

The drip tip is threded and seals against the silicone cap at the top of the tube. The wicks prevent juice flowing down the inner tube, so they generally don't leak

Not sure of the answer to your last question, but I got some last week (version 1) and they are excellent. Keeping the wick wet is easy - seems natural and they don't leak at all. I fill up two in the evening and carry them in the car, to work and back with no hassles. Was using Boge carts before, but I'm sold, more taste, more vapour and much less hassle. A rinse with warm water every few days seems to help as well. If V2's are better then I'll get some next time.

I just keep the wick wet by lying the LT down between vapes, now and again roll it around a bit if the juice is a bit low.

I have one but have not used it yet, well until just this min. It does give off a good vape, and as for leaking, time will tell for me lol. Used my cheaper juice to test it out and will wrap it in a tissue when it goes into the case.

Honestly batty, there's no need to wrap it. I'm sure you'll find the tissue stays dry as a bone

For me it will be better safe than sorry as I am off on my travels for a few days so I will not be able to fix things if it goes all wrong. Also in my little case I have 4 eGo C/T batteries, plus a few 10430's so the last ting i want is for the hardly possible happening, cos with my luck it would leak like buggery and blow the batteries up in my pocket, making me pee like a lady for the rest of my life

Thanks for all your help. See today was not wasted, I learned something. My fave is still the 6ml DCT and it works a treat with a high VG juice in it, giving huge amounts of vape. mmmmmm got my vanilla tobacco in there atm and have just produced a very satisfying large cloud of vape
