Man talk...beard trimmers

Ok... beard trimmers have been the baine of my life for the last 15 years.

I rarely razor shave as i used to get fire rash...until our resident shaver jtc introduced me to shavettes. Since then i no longer suffer from said rash (your a legend jonny boy)

Now, i do like to have a short beardage/stubble thing going on...mrs likes it too. However my current issue is finding a trimmer that will trim at a set length in one or little "passes".
The last one i bought was supposed to be great at it...its not...its shite. Takes tons of "passes" and ends up uneven.

So my question to you fellow bearded men...what do you use for a short stubble trimmer?

I usually go for top of the range remingtons.Wahl are goodbbut again you want the best. I just find the cheaper range a bit crappie tbh

Just dubious as the ones i have had are saod to be abke to trim to x length but as i saod, takes loads of passes to achieve this and others just doesnt do it.

I used to have an old set of BaByliss beard/stubble trimmers that were quite good but eventually the batteries died and I moved on to a Remington that I absolutely hated - kept nipping my lip when I was doing the tache bit. Currently got a set of Philips ones that were okay to start with but the head has worn over time where it clips onto the body of the trimmers and makes a bit of a racket in use these days.
None of them were top of the range ones though (Philips were the dearest out the bunch)

Ill be looking for a new set for Christmas so interesting to see what suggestions you get thebishman

I use this.
Cut's great i get no snagging or anything, the charge lasts pretty well and you can rinse off the cutting head under the tap when done.

i got a philips g380 kit and its been going years will defo replace it with a phillips when it do die

Erg ... in my books that's a chore that needs to be done way too frequently, like recoiling and rewicking.

I have and use (when I need to - sometime after about the thirteenth nag from SWMBO) a Philips something or other. Battery with cord - and I prefer to run it in corded mode. It seems to run better/faster, aside from it not having a long run time between charges when used cordless.

It's got a little vacuum/blower in it to help suck the cut hair into it's little collection container. That bit works pretty well.

Nope - it certainly isn't a single pass thing. BUT it does seem to achieve pretty even results after a few passes.

It's got a dial to set the cut length which works well and consistantly, at least for the shortish lengths I use.

It doesn't have any sort of "edge cut line trimmer" - to make a sharp edge, like say, between longer sideburns and face.

Cleaning it can be messy and fiddly. But I kinda think that's likely to be the same with all of 'em. I've found the shed air compressor is the business. Blast it (and myself) with lots of air @ 115 PSI works far better than anything else I've tried.


Ya know there are beard and shaving forums? I accidentally fell into one one day. My goodness, ya reckon there's a lot of things to learn about vaping when you start? Vaping's got nothing on those keen shaving guys!

Coincidently my old trimmer gave up last week, the battery life was down to about enough time to do an eyebrow.
After a quick look here I ordered the one from John Lewis Friday evening, it was ready for collection from my local Waitrose at 11am Saturday

Before I decided to go full beard (now down to my moobs) I was really happy with a Babyliss iStubble easy control on length and good battery life. The link is for the one I had but there are newer versions out now.
