I like tubes but all the regulated ones are HUGE in 18650 mode. Looking on FT for a 22mm mech but they seem to have gone all Star Wars/Steam Punk/high tech, pretty much like regulated mods these days.
Does anyone know where I can get a 22mm SS or SS/Brass mech with a 510. Would be advantageous if it was available in the UK.

Honestly i think you're onto a loser looking for anything new. Nobody is making 22mm mech tubes these days and definitely not 22mm mech tubes with a 510 pin. Best bet is posting some wanted threads for used devices in forum classifieds/FB groups etc unless you can find some websites which have some very old stock.

The EHPRO 101 regulated mod is quite small - sold by Fasttech, and by Naturevape in the UK.

mikedidthis those have hybrid tops HaroldTheBarrel wants tubes with a 510 by which i presume he means ones with a positive pin built into the top cap not just a 510 threaded hybrid connection.

I have tried those. In 18650 mode they’re are bit too big for my taste, and the 18350 mode won’t last all day, even at the 12ish watts I vape at. I want it for out and about and could carry a spare 18350 but it’s just an added complication I can’t be bovvered with.

I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily set on 510. Wouldn’t the hybrid make it a bit shorter? Are there any safety issues with using a hybrid?

I guess the low cost of high power regulated mods has killed them off.

Yes it would be a bit shorter, as long as you have a suitably protruding pin on the atty it's just as safe.
It's more just a trend with size, people are still producing mech tubes but they are now making them in 24mm and 25mm diameter mostly as those are the sizes of most tanks and drippers now.

Also on a note of safety dont use any tanks with stock coils that may have a floating pos pin that can be easily compressed to create a short.
Most short tube mods wont have a lock so worth considering if you want to keep them in your pocket. I normally just wind the buttons out till they dont fire.

If you want an unregulated tube which is both short and safe and can find someone to sell them then the Atto by Yellowkiss and Wismec Vicino are great candidates. Both have boards built in for the usual safety stuff like short protection etc plus you can turn them on and off so safer in your pocket . Both next to the Ehpro in it's 18350 mode. Atto in 18650 mode on the left, can also break down to 18350 for a ridiculously short mod. Vicino in the middle uses a single 18650 only but as you can see is barely taller than the Mod 101 in 18350 mode. When looking for the Vicino make sure it's the 18650 version they also made a mod called the Vicino D30 which is 30mm diameter and has a built in battery. Of the two i prefer the Atto firstly it's shorter, secondly you can use two types of cell and thirdly it's more solidly made than the Wismec mod.
Edit: Should point out the Atto uses button top batteries not flat top, you can get round that though by popping a small button magnet on top of a flat top battery.
