Just had a VERY Dodgy ebay experience which has uncovered a filthy phisher.
Needing some coils i searched for and found on ebay a seller Bargain.vapers selling what i needed, and i placed an order.
I subsequently get an email asking for me to use a smart phone to follow a link???? to verify my age??
WFT??
As soon as I query this and suggest they check the age of the ebay a/c used to place the order (well over 20 yrs old, as is my stock email a/c) I get a reply telling me i have already used the process and passed.
NO WAY.. for one i can only assume its to ask for a photo of photo ID ?? that s the usual scam.. And method used to gain access to personal information for misuse. And i have no photo id .
FILTHY effin Phisher!!! Dont use em, they will in all likelihood misuse your personal data and sell your info off to the usual suspects who will hassle you with calls from "the Official UK solicitor in the government" about your recent road accident etc...
BEWARE!!

The following link may explain it all phatfil - They ask you to post a 3 second selfie video and software determines your age apparently ! www.verifymyage.co.uk/consumers-ebay.htmlIf your age cannot be verified from the video then you will be asked to provide further details. Strange though it sounds it certainly doesn't look like a phishing scam to me. Seems to be an ebay thing rather than specific to that vendor

And I did not chase the link on a phone so if only a photoscan and Not a document request I could well be mistaken. However its most odd 1) The initial email is sent from the vendor but is worded as if from ebay itself? 2) On requesting clarification how a 20+ yr old ebay a/c could be owned by a minor i was immediately (auto mailed?) replied to explaining that i had already undergone the procedure successfully? - I think my ignorance of the procedure validates that I have not. I still suspect a phishing expedition even if its only collecting phone numbers and not trawling for photo id. I would still suggest caution and recommend if contacted in a similar fashion anyone else also queries the requirement and see if you also miraculously satisfy the requirement instantly by return mail too? do you need to install an app with permissions over your address book photos and files in order to send them a pic? that site looks plausible charliehorse But the contact us page is another phishing form with zero validation on the key fields allowing me to send a **** U without qualifying my id as it alludes. here are the scum responsible beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/12050874/filing-historyWould ebay use a company/service that has only traded a few months with zero track record? i would say yes only if its a subsidiary which it is not as far as i can see .

Hi phatfil - I am also happy to stand corrected when wrong It is indeed most odd that "On requesting clarification how a 20+ yr old ebay a/c could be owned by a minor i was immediately (auto mailed?) replied to explaining that i had already undergone the procedure successfully? - I think my ignorance of the procedure validates that I have not. " I would also suggest caution if you suspect scullduggery in any transaction online. I have no idea if you need to install an app with permissions over your address book photos and files in order to send them a pic but if you did then I would go no further. Maybe other members can shed light on this if they have tried to go through the process ?? The site does indeed look plausible but the fact the contact page allows you to type sweary words without zero validation doesn't mean your message will get through at the other end Would ebay use a company/service that has only traded a few months with zero track record? i would say yes if they thought it would satisfy some legal requirement. In fact I think e-bay would use a company that said it would start trading a week next Tuesday if they thought it would satisfy some legal requirement. The fact that e-bay is now saying don't give these people any information speaks volumes though. Particularly when they list e-bay as a customer of their service. I think if i had been as worried by the phishing thing in the first place though I would have just cancelled the order Hope it arrives okay though

I've had it buying a drip tip, went back to buy another and the system remembered I had passed the age check, but my one was by email from sellersName@verifymyage.co.uk.

UK law is clear that selling vapes, e-cigarettes or e-liquids to young people under the age of 18 is illegal. Online stores, therefore, need to be able to unambiguously verify the age of their customers before proceeding to sale, in order to be legal. www.agechecked.com/vaping/

Just been through it with different ebay seller. Thought it a bit odd but it's simply an email link that goes to verifymyage and does a quick scan of your face and that's it. No app install or anything like that. I think there was a permission request for Chrome/camera. uk.trustpilot.com/review/verifymyage.co.uk
